Cute, cute, cute in a stupid-ass way

About Me

My two favorite foods are soft pretzels and water ice (if you are not from Philadelphia, the oddly-named aforementioned substance is a refreshing summer treat combining the finer elements of italian ice, sorbet and a sno-ball, in that order.) In terms of flavor, I generally go for lemon, mango, raspberry (red, not blue) and sometimes cherry. I'm still talking about the ice. I like the pretzels to taste...pretzel-y.I think things sort of work themselves out the way they are meant to, whatever that means.I think I'm an existentialist, which I believe makes me an existentialist. (I think that was supposed to be funny)I have the gift and curse of extremely keen olfaction. I can usually tell what you ate for lunch.I'm a bit of a joyful malcontent, if that makes any sense.I'm an impulsive endomorph who loves spicy food and warm bodies.I enjoy candy and cartoons immensely.I don't relax much. One day that is something I might enjoy.I like to dance. I do not got rhythm, but I got soul (see below.)I like to sing Al Green when I know I'm out of earshot, or when I'm drunk. I got soul.I like when people are surprised by my age.I abhor the smell of watches and wristwear in general.I have a profound case of wanderlust and a pronounced deficit in the necessary funding needed to address this affliction. The less cash I have, the more apt I am to give it to you.I live in the south. I am not really adapting well, except I make biscuits with fair regularity.I hate being called "ma'am".I am hopelessly idealistic and optimistic to a fault. Just call me Donna Quixote."If I could be for only an hour If I could be for an hour every day If I could be for just one little hour Cute, cute, cute in a stupid-ass way " -Jacques Brel

My Interests

Reaping the benefits of benefits, non-revoltingly demonstrable syndactyly, infamy, creative usage of interesting/antiquated vocabulary, making out, flossing, being saucy, mystery spots(as in vortices, not birthmarks--those don't interest me much, ) decent wine, mania, cool shoes, getting a witness, great finds at discount prices, leaving no witnesses, cold beer, vaguely resembling minor celebrities, crunchy snacks, pleasant scents, being a smart-ass, omnivory, mix cds, making giant messy omelettes, clean things, getting my picture on diner walls-of-fame, comfort food (both international and domestic), comfort drink, House Erining, cookin' up good stuff and lately, drying out.

I'd like to meet:

Someone who knows the date of the next meteor shower.A lover of [my] [many] quirks; an Erin connoisseur, if you will.

Music:

Anything good (this can include): Jeff Buckley, Prince, Stars, Radiohead, Aretha Franklin, Sufjan Stevens, Miho Hatori, My Bloody Valentine, Pulp, David Bowie, Curtis Mayfield, New Order, Kanye West, Beck, Antony and the Johnsons, The Islands, Neutral Milk Hotel, George Michael, Pharcyde, John Legend, Flaming Lips, Bloc Party, Decemberists, David Gray, Arcade Fire, The Cure, Nico, Bjork, The Clash, Seu Jorge, Libertines, Blur, Jurassic 5, guilty pleasures (mall jams, prom hits, songs stuck in my head since 1994), The Faint, Ray Charles, Feist, French stuff, The Smiths, Stevie Wonder, Joy Division, Nina Simone, Journey, MJ, Ella and Louis, just to name a few.

Movies:

Amelie, The Shining, Eternal Sunshine, Trainspotting, Life Aquatic, High Fidelity, Trading Places, Triplets of Belleville, Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Clue, Royal Tenenbaums, The Princess Bride, Sabrina, Shaun of the Dead, Anything by Tim Burton, Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Coen Brothers, Terry Gilliam and Stanley Kubrick. I can happily watch The 40-Year-Old Virgin over and over again. Just putting that out there.

Television:

I love Entourage. I don't have HBO right now, so I miss it too. Embarrassingly enough, my current TV habits include Rock of Love with Bret Michaels and...The Pick Up Artist--which fascinates me. It's evolutionary psychology and cultural anthropology and a little bit of hidden-nerd-cum-douchebag-posturing. How could one not be entranced?! And he wears a top hat! Ahem--I also like The Office a whole lot, and Lost. I like trashy shows on E! and VH1, but I also like Dirty Jobs, LA Ink and Bizarre Foods (different trashy shows, different channel) I'm also in love with Alton Brown of Good Eats; it is nerdy culinary perfection as is he. I like his road eats show too. In the past I have enjoyed programs such as Salute Your Shorts, Pete and Pete, Arrested Development, Adult Swim, Family Guy, Six Feet Under, Sopranos, Perfect Strangers, Certain reality and dramatic programs on FOX, original Iron Chef.

Books:

Short stories by: Daniel Handler, Dave Eggers, David Sedaris, Roald Dahl, Lorrie Moore, Aimee Bender, Jorge Luis Borges etc. Compilations of miscellany and trivia of all varieties, anything by Par Lagerkvist, Antoine de Saint Exupery, Edith Wharton, Truman Capote, Tom Robbins, and Eugene Ionesco.
