The Eye of Judgement [11-03-07] The PS3 just keeps blowing me away, dispelling any doubts I had in the beginning of this next-gen war. First it was the overall presentation, second the anouncement of the DualShock 3/Sixaxis controller and finally innovative & fun gaming. Leading the latter is The Eye of Judgement, a trading card battle game with a fantastic twist. For those of you who are not sure what card battles are all about [I will admit, until recently I had no interest], the basic premis is drawing cards from a specially designed deck. Each deck may comprise a mix of cards represented by warriors, wizards, battle machines or monsters! Each player draws five cards and tries to eliminate his or her opponent's characters to obtain dominance over the battle field, based on a point system. Sound boring? Well, for many years I did, and the thought of playing never really tickled my fancy. But now the new Playstation Eye technology [successor to Eye Toy] and the pros at Wizards of the Coast have joined forces to create an experience that is unique and amazing to witness. Here is how it works! You place the specially designed cards you recieve on the special "battle mat" [the mat and 1 full deck of cards come with the game]. The Playstation Eye, who sees all, immediately transfers data it gets from special coding on the card, and immediately transfers that data int he fomr of a digital character that you see spawn on yout TV right in front of you. It is something you need to see to appreciate, but it is truly amazing and in an instant I was a fan of card battle games [OK Wolf...I'm ready!!]. This changes everything about the genre, and I forsee MAJOR tournaments being held using PS3's and HDTV's at every table...I'll buy 2 tickets! This is truly a "next-gen" experience and one that warrants the purchase of a PS3 all on its own. Anyone want to come play with me?
