My name is Michael Frohock and im a drifter. I have been drifting for about 5 yrs now. I started with my 1991 Mazda RX-7 not knowing what drifting even was. Later, I bought a 1996 Mazda Miata with the intent of having a decent vehichle to modify, not really for drifting. I eventually , and inadvertantly, started drifting. Since there wasn't a lot of information about drifting available stateside, all i got to see were some videos here and there on the web. Watching these videos opened my imagination to what i could do myself. The techniques i saw had no explanation on how they were done. So i eventually taught myself most the techniques i know.... starting with shift lock. I later moved onto power-over, parking brake, manji, inertia, trail braking and feint.
I worked on the 96 Miata for quite sometime. The car was my daily driver and went from a virtually stock car to a well tuned, supercharged beast. But it was still my daily driver. The suspension setup was identical to my 99 (which is listed further below). The car was totaled Dec. 14th 2004.
With the help of BatlGround Engineering, as my first sponsor, i was able to finally compete in several events. My first event was the 2004 US Drift Nationals at Lowe's Motor Speedway in N.C. .Later that year, i was invited to the NOPI Nationals Drift Showoff. My events/accomplishments are, but not limited to-
- 2004 US Drift Nationals (1st place)
- Consecutive Top 8 finishes at Drift Fury Round 2 & 3
- DG Trials D-DAY 3 in Ocala Fl
- DG Trials North vs South/ Civil War drift (tied for 3rd out of 50 cars)
- DG Trials Southern Fired Slide
- SEDA Lucky Slides in Commerce Ga (SEDA's very first drift event)
- SEDA The Untouchables (best drift day to date!)
- SEDA Drift 911
- Appeared in the "Mischief V: Dynasty" dvd
- Appeared in "Hyper Street Racing Type -B" dvd
- Previous sponsorships by BatlGround Engineering, EVOlution Autodesign, Fidanza and Mainstream Performance.
