music is the essence of all things personal and emotional. your heart does not have a beat without it.[ 3.24.08 ] Listening to Company Flow's 'Funchrusher Plus' again after so many years is very refreshing. Lyrics are still tightly woven as it ever was. Not a lot of music can withstand the test of time, but i know for a fact 20-30 years down the line, I can come back to this record and still imbed my brain in between the bars, the horns, the bass lines...[ 3.23.08 ] Going back to listen to Common, old to new, in that order, I always realize how much of an impact and difference JayDee/J Dilla makes on a record. Common has evolved musically trying to get that commercial success he rightly deserves, and by doing so he makes more radio-friendly odes with a radio friendly Kanye. Nothing wrong with that, but it's a different entity than what I'm used to. I argued with someone how BE is not the best album. My exact words were "THE LIGHT" single is waaaaaay better than the whole "BE" album. Not saying BE is bad, it's just different and not as impactful as Resurrection and Like Water for Chocolate. Even the TITLE has more meaning than BE...here's a little excerpt from our friend, ms. wikipedia...***The title Like Water for Chocolate comes from the 1989 Laura Esquivel novel Like Water for Chocolate, which was adapted into a movie in 1993. The phrase "Like water for chocolate" is of Spanish origin (translated, como agua para chocolate). In many Latin American countries, hot chocolate is made with water rather than milk. The phrase refers to someone who has reached their boiling point, like water ready to be used to make chocolate. In an interview with Combustible the Poet, Common compared the main character, Tita de la Garza's passion for food with his passion for music:“ Actually the album is named after a movie of the same title. In the movie the main character was a really good cook. She would always be cooking for people. Whenever she would cook, she would really put a lot of emotion into it. So when people would eat her cooking, they were able to feel the same emotions she felt while cooking it. You feel me? So this is the same thing. I put all my heart, my mind and my rawness into these tracks. So I hope that people can feel that when they listen to the album.â€Another popular interpretation of the album title ties in the phrase with the image on the cover of the album. Using the word 'chocolate' to symbolise people of dark skin color and the words 'like water' to describe the racially provocotave concept of providing drinking water of the exact same likeness for two different races alludes to the famous image and the themes of race that are found within the lyrical content of the album.***Now, what do we have from BE? We still get a few classic tracks by DILLA, THAT ARE BETTER than the Kanye tracks. And yes, THE CORNER is the best song on the album (kanye). I was happy Common brought the heat, but GO was THE LIGHT, for the masses. It tried to get the radio listeners ear and introduced himself to a broader audience. I'm happy it did, but how many of those people will go back to his older classics? I guess this is what I'm here for, convincing people that BE is not his best album. Great, but not classic. I wished FINDING FOREVER would have found that middle ground, but it was pretty much BE v.2...at least his acting career is getting him some money, that will keep him from making the new MONEY, CASH, HOES record with Flo Rida or some sht like that.

hmmm...Everyone knows I think Elle is yummy. Hiro is always cool. Parkman has a very dope power but he's too much of an idiot to use it properly. Monica is too much like TASKMASTER, without the coolness. DL I wish wasn't dead. Peter is a cheater and should die soon.Sylar is the greatest and will kill Peter in a one on one battle...WHY...because Peter is an ass..."oh, Adam, what do i do now...Nathan, can you help me...blah blah"so yeah...Sylar aka Spock is the Magneto of Heroes...very precise and brutal villian that understands what needs to be done...----------------[ from somebody who agrees with me...all others 'JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND!' ]Diony- I totally agree with your opinion on Sylar v. Peter. Peter is such a douche, a la Clark Kent (never liked Superman, always thought he was a bitch), and Sylar is so precise with it. He is the only one who has understood that he is an evolved being and that he is on top of the food chain now. And to continue to stay on top he must eliminate anyone who stands in his way, as well as take with violent force everyone's ability in the process. And I love it. Only if Peter fully grasped what he is and what he can be, he'd be the greatest super hero of all time. Though the idea of Peter's character was genius, a hero who's power is to absorb other's powers i. e. Rouge, but WAAAAY better. Anyway, just a rant.-Jaydee
