Every once in a while a group comes along that reminds you of the true power of the art of music. The Rawluck Movement was created in the wake of the murder of a young Toronto man named Donnie Rawluck. His five closest friends put together a hip hop collective to raise money in his memory for his son. I had the opportunity to talk to them about gun violence in Canada and the reality of high risk communities. They shared their stories of youth empowering themselves to protect their family and friends within a country that ignores the reality and the threat they face day to day. We feature them in this episode of The NewMusic along with Montreal's Vice TV, The Academy Is firing a girlfriend and the son of infamous televangelist parents trying to shake his past.
Lovely Sarah Taylor also slid down to LA to hang out with The Used at THEIR HOUSE to talk about their latest record, we chat to Parisian duo Air about love and the future and we (of course) bring you a young hot Canadian twosome that are making parties crazy here at home.
Monday. 9:30 ET. Don't miss it!

The Academy Is...
The Academy Is celebrated the release of Santi, their sophomore album, in early spring. But long before they cold get out the champagne, they had to fire the enemy within...the culprit, their second guitarist, Tom Conrad.
The Saint Alvia Cartel
Burlington, Ontario's Saint Alvia Cartel recently formed after the demise of some legendary southern Ontario rock bands. Even though their roots are firmly planted in punk, they definitely have an eclectic side.
Don Letts
Musician and filmmaker Don Letts is a master when it comes to marrying the arts of music and film. Don recently turned his lens on Franz Ferdinand and the result, Rock It to Rio.
Check This: Vice TV
The founders of Vice Magazine have moved into the online TV business. What was once a Montreal paper has grown into an international magazine, record and film company, and now an online news channel called VBS.
Jay Bakker
Jay Bakker will always be associated with his infamous televangelist parents Tammy Faye and Jim Bakker. However, their spectacular fall from grace didn't dissuade him from becoming a preacher himself. Jay started his own church and discovered his biggest challenge was to overcome his past.
Rawluck Movement
The murder of Donnie Rawluck is the driving force behind the hip-hop collective 'The Rawluck Movement'. Five of Donnie's closest friends are now on a mission to turn their grief into charitable music and it starts with their self titled debut album.
