"Jon Benign's album," A Taste of Happiness," is truly disturbing and strange. Though the title of the album would lead anyone to believe that the tracks are filled with words of comfort and optimism, Jon Benign fools us all with an album that is actually depressing as all hell. The beats on every track are random and chaotic. They are also very heavy, making the listener feel as though a great weight is being placed on their shoulders. Now, we don't know about anyone else, but we like it when music lifts that weight off. We like to feel better after listening to music, not like we just got socked in the face. The vocals on the album are constantly off pitch, and there were no memorable melodies. Truly, the only memorable thing about "A Taste of Happiness," is the feeling of disgust when it was finally over. The lyrics are filled with disturbing imagery; they are clumsy, repetitive, cluttered, and just plain terrible. There is an overall feeling of darkness within the music of this album. There is no dynamics or musicality that can be appreciated. It is an ultimately unsatisfactory album that one might be better for if never having heard it. If you are interested in being put in the lamest of moods, or you just want to hear something awful for some reason, Staump.com knows that "A Taste of Happiness," will undoubtedly put you in a mood of despair."
I actually like this review. This perfectly captures the the overwheming viewpoint of my work. I never set out to make music, only art. I am an artist, and this is what I feel. If you don't like it, fuck off. Go listen to some cheeky cookie cut shit available everywhere else.
