The meaning of the term genre is the category of artistic composition, as in music or literature, marked by a distinctive style, form, or content. While this has its depths within a distinct example of music, Chiron is a band that cannot be bound by genre.Formed in 1997 by vocalist Michael Aliani after he left popular Australian Gothic ban Ikon, the original lineup included Dino Molinaro (bass) Shura b2 (Guiter) and Vadim Belakov (Drums). Over the years this line up has changed numerous times, but one consistency has remained throughout, being the voice of Michael Aliani. Chiron has become the vessel for Michael to produce truly unique music and work with an array of different musicians and producers.Originally a dark wave band, Chiron entered the new millennium fresh with new ideas and an opportunity to take its music far deeper than before. The transformation began with the meeting of lead singer Michael Aliani and DJ/producer Robert Anthony, and the subsequent collaboration with Melbourne DJ/Producer Murray Van Zaff . What was once a solid dark wave band, Chiron was soon to be exposed to the sounds of trip hop, ambient breaks and even hard trance.These collaborations brought upon some early success through a number of dance remixed releases on vinyl and compilation CDs. The first release on the MTM label 'MTMR001 Extra Phenomena EP' topped as the 7th bestseller for TuneInn.com in its first week of sale, and was regarded as having a truely original Melbourne sound in the genre of electronica.Chiron then took part in an Australian tour, whilst spending as much time as possible refining their sound, which if genre were necessary, electronica. From large rave festivals to small intimate gatherings, Chiron continued to push the endless boundaries.While the large rave festivals exposed Chiron to a younger market, it is the intimate shows that allow the group to be free with its material, often described as an emotional melody with rhythm and urgency. "Slipping Away'' (Apollyon/Alive Apo CD 25062) is a perfect example of this intimacy, but also features the future of Chiron with 'Far From Me' being the most demanded songs at their festival appearances. This version also featured in the German Electronic Web Charts for July, 2005.Most recently Michael has begun to work with vocalist Tanya Lee. Her ability to capture the emotion of each composition cannot be understated. With over 11 new compositions completed with Tanya, Chiron's next release is sure to be their best.
