Soul Purpose

About Me

Possibly one the most difficult tasks of telling people about Soul Purpose is describing our style. Throwing the Allman Brothers on to an island of Reggae, surrounded by the voice of Joe Cocker, and beaches of Funk is a pretty close illustration of our music. We strive for ever-expanding our musical styles/genres, which opens the door for many different kinds of listeners. Basically, the idea is to put out the best music we can that is inspired by the teachings of Jesus and our own experiences so that people are able to consider his message in perhaps a different light than before. Soul Purpose is rooted in (and inspiried) by the Celebrate Recovery System - a Christ-centered 12-step prgram. We formed over 4 years ago basically as a cover band (Covered artists such as: Pink Floyd, Lynard Skynard, Stevie Wonder, etc..). We went on for months and months consistently surprising audiences with interesting worship and covers, continuously offering God's message through music. However, God had other plans, and after a lot of prayer and meditation former members needed to focus on other parts of their lives, and they each (gradually) left the band. We pumped out 18 songs after an extremely fruitful/creative couple months. It seemed each week, someone brought a new song either lyrically or musically to the practices. Now, we've recorded a full length CD with Mark jonathan at the Indian Reservation, Called "Starting Over", and God is using us to reach others. Our lead singer, which you see in the photos passed away June of 2007 but we are still moving forward with making new music. We're excited about what God will do with us, and the future music we can offer to anyone lookin' for a good groove written by genuine/real people who have been down many different roads...
