Nalee is an up and coming Hmong female artist in the R&B entertainment industry. She was raised in the small town Tulare located in the central valley of California. Growing up in a small town near the country side, she knew of nothing beyond the premises of her small town about the social, diverse, wild, and excitement of life. From the moment she joined choir in the third grade up until high school, she knew singing inspired her to express and show her love not only for herself but to all those who she wanted to help and leave a positive mark on.
Throughout her years of schooling she was involved in talent shows and musical events, where she knew she would be able to enlighten her audience through her voice. Nalee often flourished her talent by writing poems about her experiences in life. In expressing her feelings about life, she found it helped her open up her voice to sing emotionally and with true passion. Her inspiration came from diva artists Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, and Celine Dion. In all her years of joining choir, she knew that it could not uphold the talent she had inside. Nalee later took the initiative to be highly involved in outside performances in school events and within her Hmong community.
She moved with her family to Minnesota in 1999, where she now resides in the Twin Cities. In 2000 she had given up on singing when she was unable to find an affordable agent who would help her get started in the entertainment industry. However, in October of 2005 her career path shifted when she met Regina Magee, her Producer’s wife at a law firm where they worked together. Regina introduced Nalee to the rap group Lao Crimino, where she was invited and selected to take on the main female role in their music video "Move some’m." Her fiance, Aaron, later introduced to who is now her Producer Trauma T, that she has the talent to sing and change people’s perspective on Asian female artists. Nalee first demonstrated her voice to Trauma T, Regina and Lao Crimino in singing Mariah Carey’s "My All," in which she amazed the group and was asked to sing the hook for Lao Crimino’s "So Much Drama" and "Asian Ryders." The recording and music video were completed in the beginning of 2006. From the moment she met Trauma T and Regina her passion to sing again was uplifted and she no longer denied the talent that she always had.
Others describe Nalee as funny, talkative, creative, talented, beautiful, challenging and well rounded because she gets along with everyone. Nalee has not only dreamt of becoming an artist, but achieving Law School, that of which she has attained her Legal Studies degree and Paralegal Certificate. She plans to attend Law School after she has fulfilled her singing career. Though the two consist of different challenges, she is prepared for anything that comes along her path. She has been successfully introduced to Twin Cities club Escape, where she has performed with Lao Crimino and opened for Houston’s celebrity Jimmyboi during the summer of 2006. Nalee has completed recording two of her songs "All I Wanna do" and "Watcha Think about that," and has many more songs yet to be released. She is hoping to complete her music video for her first song "All I wanna do" before the end of 2006. At this moment, music is her sole inspiration in finding her purpose as an Asian female and she will never forget who has supported her to get to where she is at today. Most importantly she embraces where her roots stem from, as her grandfather and father has taught her "In this world of opportunity, work hard to get far in whatever you do, but never forget the beliefs and culture of your ancestors."
