KREZI MIZIK is the creation of two well-known musicians in the Haitian Music Industry, David Dupoux, former maestro and co-founder of Konpa Kreyol, and Michael Benjamin better known by his nickname, Mika, and for his solo career made popular with the hit, Ou Pati. To complete the formation, they enlisted the services of four other talented musicians: Serge Laguerre, on the bongos; Délices Mezifils, on the guitar; Jean René Ti Bass Saidnrald, on the bass; and Roosevelt Jean Noël on the drums.
The group was officially introduced to the press on Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at Regency in Haiti through a conference followed by a « jam session. »
Their first single PLEZI GAYE, which was in constant rotation on every Haitian FM radio show during the month of June, was well received. The grand premier of the group was set for Saturday, June 25, 2005 at Ritz Kinam II in Pétion-Ville, Haiti, and for Saturday, July 2, 2005 at Moving Disco Club in Carrefour, Haiti. These events were very successful and everyone who was curious to discover this new group responded to the invitation.
Following came performances in various night-clubs on the capital, certain provinces and even in North America.
Afterwards came offers from various record labels to produce the debut album. They chose TROPIDISCS/KALIKO PRODUCTIONS. And it was then that on November 2005, to the occasion of Musique en folie, came the first live album with two original, studio-recorded songs: Plezi Gaye and the second single, Lem wew.
In February 2006, KREZI MIZIK participated, for the first time, in a carnivalesque parade in Port-au-Prince. Despite all the difficulties, the slander, and all the skeptics, these musicians proved their drive and their talent.
