About Me

Admittedly obsessive-compulsive about many things: books, music, movies, politics, etc. I get excited about bookstores like truckers get excited about pornshops. I also obsess about having as much music readily available on my computer at any given moment, as if the entire CD medium will suddenly disappear, leaving me with nothing to listen to unless I have it all online. I know, it is as ill as it sounds.

I also must own every book I ever read. Why? Not sure about that one either. Maybe it's because I'm afraid that the instant I get rid of any one particular book, I will wish I had it back the next day. So I keep everything.

I am the proud father of a very grown-up nine-year-old boy, pictured in my profile pics. I have treated him as a best friend since he was born, so I'm afraid he will want his own place in Chicago when he's 12, as he thinks he is already 15 instead of 8. He wants to learn to play guitar, and I just got him his first this last christmas. He loves David Bowie, the Sex Pistols, Icon of Coil, Gary Numan, Nirvana, and the Pixies. We play the song Vamos! in the car all the time, and scream along! He also loves to tell my conservative family members that George Bush is a bad man because he starts wars and kills people! I do love him so...

I'm about as radically to the left of the political spectrum as a human body can be, verging into anarcho-syndicalism, but settling for a working model of socialism. Conservatives just get my hackles up, and I love nothing more than to debate conservatives...educated ones, not those that like Bush because he's as dumb as they are.

My wish list: good music, good books, a rum and coke, and a beautiful woman by my side.

A link to my library at LibraryThing.com. This is only representative of about 20% of my total holdings, but gives a good indication of the collection as a whole:

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

P.J Harvey...the sexiest woman alive! ...and Jesus, of course. That water into wine trick is great to have. And lastly, Tom Waits. I would love to buy that man a drink!

What if you're toys really did come to life to play with you?

A little long, but good God is it worth it!

Ahh, Amanda...thank you Kat, for getting me and Ronan backstage to meet her.

A great industrial group, and a nicely done video!

A little Aphex Twin for the unsettled.

These guys are just too good to be true! Could they be any more gay, maybe, but probably not.

Certainty is a devious little bitch!

This thing we call certainty, as defined says free from doubt or reservation, seems an unattainable thing.  Even the promise or the hope of certainty seems to ebb and flow like the tide.  Be...

Republicans and the repeal of our Constitutional freedoms!

So I'm reading, as I usually do, trolling across the Internet(s), and I stumble across something that seems rather alarming to me, not so much as a fact in among itself, but because I apparently misse...

VOTE, DAMMIT!!!

There is just no excuse. Apathy gave us the man with an IQ slightly higher than a houseplant last time, so we can't let it happen again!

This one has been dancing around in my head for some time.  The first line came to me while I was driving, and I've been repeating it over and over for months, trying to see what would come next....
