About Me

The Petes
Check Out Our New CD!
In the early month of February, in the year of our lord 2004, a group was born that would grow to an entity all together bigger than the sum of its parts. Guitar player and vocalist Elliott Barker found himself in a quandary; the music he was writing no longer fit the cookie cutter styling of many of the days top performance bands, and his own groups. Having no choice but to branch out of the norm and find a voice for this sound that couldn't be molded and wouldn't be ignored. He inlisted the help of fellow artist and guitarist, one Peter Coro. What followed was to be a page in the new rock and roll history book.
Elliott, having recruited Peter to the group, asked a friend of his, who was "the craziest bassist I've taught"(Joe Mora), the young and accomplished Cody W. Farwell. The group had its sound.
Having been unsuccessful in finding a drummer for the band, Elliott was aproached by Fellow Musician Aaron Goldich who was a pianist in the area. Aaron had been in a group with a friend of his who played a mean set of skins, David Gilooly. The two half groups met at Aarons house for several weeks and formed "Cody and the Aaronettes", a short lived incarnation of the soon-to-be-petes, with Aaron on organ. Differences of opinion and style led to Aaron requesting a disbandment and exodus of the other four members of the group.
What could have been the end of all that was to come, was sidestepped when one saturday, Elliott called David, Cody and Pete and asked if they wanted to come to his house and jam without Aaron. They all agreed to give it a shot. and The Petes was formed. After several weeks of rehearsal and name changes, The Petes performed a set of gigs at a local church, and the fan base started to grow exponentially since then.
Today the petes continue to grow and expand, and are soon to embark upon a cross country tour for the months of June and July 2008.
And the legend continues.

Influences: The sound of The Petes comes from a deep appreciation for the classic styles of classic rock, while holding onto the desire to create fresh music. The result is a bit of the old mixed with new age rock.

A great many of our fans have claimed that our sound reminds them of The Beatles blended with Modest Mouse, with a hint of Radiohead. I know what you're thinking, "A bit of the old and a bit of the new... sounds like the future!"

I have to say that you may be right...
