Leadwood Folk was formed in Leadwood, Missouri, a small, quiet town located south of St. Louis, in June 2006. The band consisted of Ryan King on vocals, harmonica, and guitar, Buddy Iahn on drums, and Mike Minghi on bass. After much consideration, Ryan and Buddy relocated the band to Nashville, Tennessee in September 2006.
Reaching out for more than just the traditional, the duo looked to add some texture to the songs. Thus, John Slater joined the band as lead guitarist in October 2006.
Following months of practice, the band recorded nine tracks at Fry Pharmacy Studios in July 2007 with the aid of Scott McEwen and Phil Hummer.
The band recorded more tracks in early 2008 at Spotlight Studios in Nashville, completing their debut album in the summer of 2008. The album, titled "In Pieces," is scheduled for release in the fall of 2008.
