I am married and reside in central TX. I was born and raised in Queens NY and then we moved to the Hudson Valley (NY) when I was 16 and lived in that area until my kids moved out and my son's military involvement brought us here over six years ago for a visit, then we decided to move here less than a year after that. We are here almost five years already
It was great to move here to TX and finally get some property.
It wasn't as much of a culture shock as some people believe. The people here are a little friendlier than others but everything else is the same and life goes on...there are nice people all over, you just have to get out to meet them.
I love my chickens, our two dogs, three cats, the internet, our koi pond, bowling, reading, gardening and my three grandchildren. Painted nails and makeup aren't my thing.
I like down-to-earth honest people and I dislike people who pretend to be what they aren't.
I miss my daughter, grandsons and other family in NY and my granddaughter son and DIL in MA, but I look forward to our yearly visits (not enough though)
