Royal Colour Automatic is an electronic music project created by Bryan Alvarez. It was born in the early 2000’s through various music-computing machines; recorded, performed, written, designed, and lived throughout the Illinois region. The music itself is a blend of drum and bass, IDM, and ambient textures. Underneath the soft haze of synthesizers lurk the crashing sounds of glitched out drumbeats.
Royal Colour Automatic has been at times performed entirely with real musicians with real instruments but has evolved into something much more warm and electronic. For this reason, the music “may contain real instruments†as opposed to strictly “electronic devices.†“We use keyboards and drum machines. We also use guitars and real drummers. Sometimes there's singing. Sometimes there's not. Other times we won't tune our instruments. We might be considered pretentious, but I wouldn’t say so.â€
Royal Colour Automatic’s “Dance_Hall†is an album that depicts a living scene of events that have actually occurred in a dance hall. It is a journey in and out of different minds and bodies. It is a treat for those that fall for droning and bass-heavy beats moving through foggy textures. The artwork was created by Bryan and is just dandy. It smells good and it taste great, too! We hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed making it.
