Where do I go now?

About Me

Eh, this part can get tricky. Add the fact that I procrastinate far too much and if the world really is my oyster, how many yummy ways can you consume an oyster? See? Not to mention those pearls of wisdom. But I attribute that to my past lives. Ever felt a serious comfort zone or special familiarity with something or someone without having anything to back it up? Makes me wonder how many times I have lived before and how confused I can get with all those surpressed memories. I am a mixed bag of treats. I miss the sweet sweet sounds of Detroit in the form of sirens and the falling of empty syringes on the decaying concrete.Home | Browse | Search | Invite | Film | Mail | Blog | Favorites | Forum | Groups | Events | Videos | Music | Comedy | Classifieds ..

My Interests

Pomegrantes. I love em!! Live music. Playing music. Listening to music. Singing out loud. mmmmm shower accoustics. Cooking and entertaining with my family and friends. I don a mean chinese cleaver in the kitchen. Lazy Sundays at the pub or on the beach. Picnics. Guiness. Botanical gardens. Hiking. Working out keeps my mind and body parts ticking in sync. Chi Quong. Kickboxing. Yoga. Dancing my bum off. If I could, I would jump on a plane or a train and get lost as often as possible. Did I mention that I love to travel? I adore shapes, especially organic ones. I have fun looking upwards especially when I find hidden details in buildings. Actually I just love to be a voyeur. Hence my addiction to Myspace. I get a kick out of observing people, places, buildings and things in general. Sculpture and architecture are my something special that puts a twinkle in my eye. I studied Industrial Design at university. Hated it at the time. Too many books and not enough appreciation for design itself. But I have acquired a special love for all things associated with design be it man made or a la natural. Form versus function. Appreciating all 5 of my senses. Laying on a bed of grass. The fresh scent of just bathed clean skin. The fresh spray of the ocean. I miss the ocean!A crapload of other aspirations that I am saving for that rainly day... carpentry, glass blowing, ceramics, tattoo design, I wanna play the drums!!!, landscaping, furniture design... this is making me tired. Oh and I wanna run the City to Surf Marathon one day back in OZ. Use the force, girl!

I'd like to meet:

Quality and not quantity, please. You can go elsewhere if you are just adding token friends. No energy suckers! Been there, done that, paid my dues. Anyone that has been inside the Flatiron building in NYC. Any travellers but no tourists. Anyone with a social conscience and understands responsible and sustainable living for our environment.Anyone who has verve, loves a good laff, the inquisitive kind who can handle witty banter. Otherwise... any wiseass and sarcastic mofos are welcome. I am also very very yag friendly...just in case you were wondering.

Music:

Where to begin?I shoot from my mood like most of you muso freaks.Jellyfish, Jeff Buckley, Miles Davis, Chet Baker, Dave Brubeck, John Lee Hooker, The Cure, Aretha Franklin, The Cardigans, Damien Rice, Frou Frou, Jem, Missy Higgins, Gomez, Stone Temple Pilots, The Sundays, A Perfect Circle, Ennio Morricone, Incubus, Claude Debussy, Chopin, Kelis, Otis Redding, Ben Harper, James Taylor, Patsy Cline, Bonnie Raitt, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Aimee Mann, Alana Davis, De La Soul, Lemonheads, Massive Attack, Robbie Williams, Cake, Morcheeba, Incognito, Sneaker Pimps, Lisa Loeb, Lenny Kravitz, Moloko, Modjo, Bob Marley, Our Lady Peace, Prodigy, Radiohead, Audioslave, early Prince, Bernard Fanning, Ryan Adams (thanks Mander), Brandi Carlile, Jenny Cummings, yadda yadda yadda...

Movies:

I love my documentaries! Reality TV doesn't qualify I'm afraid. But that crap has its time and place, unfortunately. Mockumentaries... ooh ahhh. Spinal Tap anyone?Anything visually stimulating and with a slight twist. Foreign films are always a bonus. The subtitles are good eye exercises. Independant movies I am always willing to lend an eye. The occasional romantic flick. I'm a chick... it's allowed.Don't believe the hype. Oh yea and I managed a few video stores back in the day. I got paid to watch every shit movie in the house. Some of the memorable ones: Delicatessen, The City of Lost Children, Baraka, Tampopo, Scent of the Green Papaya, Dream for an Insomniac, Punch Drunk Love, Big Blue, Blade Runner, Subway, Highlander, Sixteen Candles, Hitchcock flicks, The Great Escape, Army of Darkness, The Princess Bride, Willy Wonka & the Choc Factory, Before Sunset, Fifth Element, Trainspotting, The Truth About Cats & Dogs, The Cook the Thief His Wife & Her Lover, The Pillow Book, Mystery Train, Night on Earth, Crooklyn ....

Television:

Not much a fan of TV. Besides I am not the master nor the commander of the remote in this homestead.CRIME & INVESTIGATION Network, food network, mtv with mander ( watching it alone is pretty yag) but honestly is it wrong to watch 12 non stop hours of american and australian crime? honestly? is it? please someone answer me?

Books:

Difficult topic. I lean towards non-fiction but I never say never to anything (I might possibly be lying here). Biographies good. Politics bad. Culture and travel, yes please. I am a design book hound. Photography books help stimulate and relax me if I am too lazy to synthesise words.Really, I don't read as much as I would like. Lazy factor 10. My reading wish list is sky high. Some goodies... Like Water For Chocolate, Memoirs of a Geisha, Nine Parts of Desire The Hidden World of Islamic Women, The Art of Happiness, The Alchemist, Naked Ape, Perfume, Time by Andy Goldsworthy.

Heroes:

My Grandma. She rocked in her day. I aspire to be half the woman she was. Dan Eldon.

Por Por

So tonight, my grand aunty rang me from Florida. My legs almost gave out. Her voice is pitch perfectly similar to my beloved Por Por (grandma). It's been a good decade since Por Por has passed. I miss...

Remembering foreign soils...

Gawd, my life seems so blah in comparison to where I have been and what I have done in my past. Makes me wanna be melodramatic and reminisce. I'd talk about it but all the voices in my head have retir...
