Hi Y'all! I am Colm O'Loughlin. I am originally from Dublin, Ireland. I have been a man of adventure for the last 24 years. I lived on a houseboat for a year and a half in Amsterdam, and nearly that long in a squat. I have lived a total of 17 years in Denmark.
My adventures have been wild, and my life has been viewed through the murky mist of alcohol and drugs. I have quit the drink and now only smoke a little ganga now and then. That is not a problem because as life had it I broke my arm in two places and had to be on very strong painkillers and that got me to be lethargic. I am beginning a new life with hope, and joy. I know the going will not be easy...I know that it is only I who can do the changing for myself.
I love making new friends...true friends that will be there for me, knowing that I have quit the drink and want to be my friend regardless. I have "lost" many friends when I decided to be sober...I have come to realize that they were not my true friends. Please read my blogs and make comments if you wish.
I have a love of sailing ! When I was young I built 5 dinghys for both my father and my Little sister and I was only 5 years old, that thrills me to no end. I love the feel of the boat as it cuts through the water...the spray of water that touches my skin as I turn my head to greet the sky...it is indescribable. When you feel the push of the wind, and the pull of the sail through the boat ....it is not like a horse, it is the gods pushing you along ....No silence....Wind........
No radio.....Silence, but not silence ... the sound of waves .... swishing passing by ... swishing with no engine , just swishing , swish , swish ,pull the the sail in ..... let it out ... go quicker .. and if you did not win .... soo what ......You had partaken in the the race and there was always a good talk , afterwards...... !Thats what a good race is about when you race.... If it is a running race or a sailing race.!
You all get back to land in one piece .
Remember one thing. These are are big yachts and it is only people with big money, or big hearts that can sail them... I have sailed with some of them!
I have have representeted Ireland when I was younger and even though it was many years ago ... One never forgets however to set a sail so it never luffs, or lets out wind.
You may or may not know what I mean , but I do ! Give me a dinghy or a '40 footer swan , but I know how how to handle a sail.
Music is my passion! I have played the 12 string acoustic guitar, I have even busked in the streets and made quite a bit of money with it. I still keep a door open for any chances I may have in music! I am a hairdresser by trade, but I had to quit as I am allergic to the chemicals now. I am beginning my new adventure...only time will tell what the future will bring...but I do know that I have the love of a good woman, a woman who stands beside me, who loves me unconditionally!
