SUN,RAIN in life

About Me

So, I'm about 17 years old when Antonis' mom told me to talk to him on the phone concerning a fight he had and got him expelled from school. My raging youth, starving for revenge on people who did not understand me found the "perfect" person to be with! This is where "Teenage angst" are formed! In the spring of 1995, with me and my childhood friend Antonis as the core of the band. Antonis influence of Nirvana and Green Day, quickly covers my Greek and foreign repertoire of the 60's and 70's (Nikos Gatzos - Lefteris Papadopoulos) to the 80's and early 90's (Karvelas, Miliokas to Whitney Huston and KLF!!!). I remember me trying my best to compose my first songs. Hours spent on my Amiga 500 playing games like "Turrican" and "PP Hammer" and humming their amazing tune, accompany my melodies as a silent influence. After the following summer we get our first demo out, while we perform live at Schools and several music events!
Bassist Aggelos, loses faith with us while drummer Panagiotis continues on with his studies some time after we participate in "The battle of the bands" (AN club Athens). This is where my brother Pantelis and his best buddy from the volleyball team we like to call Dimitrakis join the group in the position of drummer and bassist correspondingly. Their band "Fecal matter" was about to ditch so they jumped to "Teenage angst". A second participation to "The battle of the bands" follows after the recording of another demo! This is where the Independent company Hitch-Hike takes us under its wings. Emilios, the label's "head in command" likes our demo songs and style and trusts us in recording an LP CD starting next year! Meanwhile NOFX, another of Antonis influences, hit our little group and I get to listen to "linoleum" and "leave it alone" song almost everyday.
Yep, we where living in a dream I tell you. Alex K and Jimmy spliff took good care of our production while Aris Christou worked his best with our sound in his console. All these happened in "Action Studio" in the summer of 97'. You've seen a plain lift off right? You remember how the wheels leave the paved way? Now imagine the wheels are our feet. Anyways now it is nice to remember it as a memory. Like that wasn't enough, we get to perform live at "Bar ton asomaton" with the last support of our "music mentors" Nirvana! They're called Chokebore and this is a live I might never forget!
Well, in 1998 we lived the peak of our dreams I think. Hitch-Hike was proud to announce that we were to perform live with NOFX in Thessalonica (Mylos) and Athens (Rodon). Playing with a band you kind of warship in that age is like. KABOOM! But it did happened that October. Same month, days after the live in Athens, LP CD comes under the title "When your life meets you", a title given by our old friend Ioannis (www.tsatsaris.gr), embracing life as we know it today since the songs of the album speak of it themselves. Several live acts with Make believe and many more rock bands take place in several clubs in Athens to support our work.
"Alice in chains" with their album "Jar of flies", are introduced to Antonis as a CD his friend from high school did not like. He finds it interesting and brings it along to our summer vacation. Since me and Antonis were the oldest members of the band and the only ones from the band in vacation we title that summer as "the grandfather's summer". I mention this here, because this specific summer it is combined with a turn around to our aggressive stance towards the world and this passes on to our work. Some of the greatest songs composed that summer are acoustic and later on that year "The Green session" demo is out including two of these special "era" songs.
Hey, what goes up goes down as well! "Teenage angst" leave Hitch-Hike due to label's tie-up with the "four wheels" magazine. Another demo is out though and the songs frame the beginning of a difficult period of my life which I rather don't reveal here.
"Joe strummer and the mescal Eros" visit Greece and perform live at "Sporting". Emilios from Hitch-Hike, remembers his "beloved band" and brings it to support Strummer to what later turned out to be his last live act. The memories are still fresh on my mind. The difficult period I mentioned in 2000, now reaches its peak and in this last demo, is left like an imprint in my compositions.
Through out the conversations with our old friend Ioannis and by reading his books trying to support my efforts to be redeemed from my bad emotional state, a new conception of approach concerning music reaches me and the band starts developing how to complete it and present it to the audience. Live performances continue at "small music theater" while "Teenage angst" changes to "Sun, rain in life" (another proposition from Ioannis on our request) leaning more to the meaning of the band's lyrics and with the Greek letter S stating the symbol of the soul and flagging a man's efforts to gain conception in life!
So, the time has come for us to hit the recording studio once more. This time it will be SCA studio with Aris Christou on the console once again. We chose to record 3 songs that where composed in the spring of 2003. The outcome is rewarding while the conception of how the "product" will hit the stores is still in development!
Our participation in the efforts of Spinalonga records to present the Greek underground scene to a wider audience, brings one of our songs (unmixed) to a compilation CD known as "In the Junkyard volume one". Several live performances take place to "Rodeo". This brings us to 2008. Bearing the scars of our raging and rebellious youth and with our eyes drawing the passing of a sentimental point of view in life we continue performing several lives from "House of art" and Music Theater "gyalino" to TV live show "MAD day live". The long expected release of "Spring 2003" CD bearing 3 songs is set for .

Influences: When we were really but really young, these people kept us company with their music: Yannis Markopoulos, Dionisis Savopoulos, Giorgos Dalaras. Just before puberty, we listened to KLF, C+C Music Factory, Paula Abdul and Michael Jackson. Early songs of Anna Vissi and Nikos Karvelas were among our favorites too. Along these years comes one of our greatest influences, that lasts to this day: music themes from the legendary Amiga 500 games. During our late teen years, we moved from the so called 'new wave' of early greek folk songs such as Giorgos Dalaras, Mitsias, Alkistis Protopsalti, Kokotas and others to the rock ballads of Jon bon Jovi, Deff Leppard and Metallica to the grunge era: Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains. Our troubled teen years ended up with Green Day, NoFX and finally, Foo Fighters. Nowadays, we don't exactly listen to any particular type of music.
