About Me
I moved to Seattle in the summer of ’06 from Northern California. I graduated from California Maritime Academy, with a bachelor's in science/marine transportation (that makes me a sailor) I grew up in Healdsburg, a tiny little Nor Cal town in the heart of wine country. I love to travel; last summer (2007) I took my first trip alone to Europe, I stayed in various hostels and with friends, I went to the UK, Germany, Czech Republic, Austria and Italy. And yes, I went to Oktoberfest in Munich. I’ve gone more miles than most do in a lifetime, and I hope to continue having a traveling lifestyle till I’m ancient. Some of the cooler places I've been: Australia (6 times), Iceland twice, South Korea, Russia, Belgium, France, Fiji, Tahiti, Palau, New Zealand, Japan, Papua New Guinea, Bonaire, Bimini, The Caymans, Turks and Caicos, Nuka Hiva, Palmyra, Saipan, New Caledonia, and the list continues.... I got into Marine Transportation because I love scuba diving; I have a Divemaster license from PADI. I went diving on live aboard dive boats allover the world growing up and I just wanted to make the sea my entire lifestyle after that. I'm a bit of a nerd I love Sci-fi, I dig classic rock, and marine biology, I enjoy watching the news and reading the paper (and bitching about it), I love all sciences especially if their marine related, I’m also a huge fan of dancing and music. I go to the movies almost every other weekend. In 2007 I worked on a research vessel; I loved the job, but they sail 320+ days a year and I didn’t want to relocate to Newport, OR. We went up to Vancouver Island, BC and down to Baja California doing core samples, and then we went way out NW of Hawaii to where the Pacific swirls and measured current intrusions etc etc. It was an interesting job and some fun ship maneuvering, I think they’re still hiring. Recently I got hired by Transocean to be an ADPO on the drill ship Discoverer Enterprise. With Transocean's two weeks on/off schedule I finally have room in my life for more time with my roomates and they're awesome. I’ve been nomadic till now, I moved 8 times in 4 years. I will call Seattle home for another year or two at least; it really is starting to grow on me. Very nice if you can ignore the rain. Oh and the no income tax thing will be very helpful for saving so that I can possibly move to New York or back to California someday. I’m on Facebook.com too.
