About Me

Steve Rhythm began his illustrious career in entertainment at Def Jam Records, in his hometown of New York. Although only sixteen years old, Steve’s boundless ambition and infectious charisma opened the door for him at the heart of the still young hip hop movement. In fact, Def Jam head Russell Simmons gave Steve his very first opportunity in the studio. “Anything that I have needed, I have been able to call on Russell. He has become my mentor and friend. He has a great understanding of people. He truly understands change and how to execute it in business, comments Rhythm.
After wetting his feet at Def Jam, Steve began interning for Bad Boy Records CEO Sean “P Diddy” Combs. At the age of eighteen, he was entrusted with an A&R executive position at Mecca Don/Elektra by owners Gerry Griffith and Max Gousse. He paid his dues as a staff producer for Mariah Carey’s Crave Records under the supervision of music executive Corey Rooney, and then for Whitney Houston’s Better Place Records. Additionally, Steve went on to help launch the career of Pink; he produced three songs on her debut album, and served as an consultant on her sophomore record. Steve’s incomparable talent and innovative spirit earned him a powerful reputation everywhere he worked. Rhythm consistently reinvented himself, whether attending Columbia and New York Universities studying film and television or studying style at the Fashion Institute of Technology; all the while earning his place in the upper echelon of the music industry.
Catching the attention of many industry heavyweights, Steve garnered a worldwide publishing deal with EMI in 1999. Discovered by then Vice President of North America Evan Lamberg (Neptunes, Pink, Rob Thomas of Matchbox 20), Steve was signed by Lamberg and CEO/Chairman Marty Bandier. He has scored licensing deals with television shows such Entourage (HBO), CSI, CSI Miami, and CSI New York (CBS) and Everybody Hates Chris (UPN), working in close conjunction with noted music supervisors Jason Alexander and Darren Higman. Steve’s music was also featured in Warner Brothers’ 2003 release What A Girl Wants.
The multi-faceted entrepreneur consulted Benny Medina and Jeff Pollack’s Handprint Entertainment and, while managed as a producer there, helped to develop their urban department and coordinate many artists’ projects, including Jennifer Lopez’s. He has served as a keynote speaker and panel member at various functions for organizations such as Michael Milken’s National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship and USC’s Entertainment Industry Students’ Association. Dozens of labels, marketing entities, and entertainment companies have sought Steve’s expertise and guidance on a wide array of projects, from music and film/television to new media and fashion, domestically and internationally; Steve Rhythm’s tenacity and dedication have earned him the role of catalyst in the endeavors to which he contributes.
Now, Steve Rhythm is building Brilliant! Inc. the new company is a culmination of his entire entertainment talent, and seeks to develop and produce an eclectic but competitive musical roster, as well as to launch film, television, and new media/broadband projects. With the trademark twinkle in his eye, Steve Rhythm is part of a new breed of young, visionary moguls, and has his mission set to rejuvenate this business of entertainment.
