The most powerful thing you can do to change the world is to change your own beliefs about the natur

About Me

An avid hiker who enjoys the outdoors all the time. Easy going, laid back and enjoying life!A believer in the principal that we don't own the environment, we are just in charge of it. Leaving something for future generations should be everyone's goal.

My Interests

Backpacking, hiking, spending time in the water or in the sun. If it is outdoors, I like it!

I'd like to meet:

People with a sense of adventure who can balance responsibility with the ability to be spontaneous.

Music:

Any classic rock or bluegrass. Sweet Home Alabama always puts me in a good mood.

Movies:

My interest is not limited to any particular genre, but ranges across the board depending on whether I find any appeal in the film. I generally don't care what the critics say.

Television:

Survivor; CSI; Lost; House; Grey's Anatomy

Books:

John Grisham; Dan Brown; and WEB Griffin are among my favorite authors.Recently I have been absorbing literature by Southern Authors and have found several works I really enjoyed.Bury my Heart at Wounded Knee should be required reading for every school age child in America as an example of the atrocities man is capable of committing. Lost Mountain is another must read as an example of the ability of some to show a blatent disregard for the environment. On a much lighter note, A Walk in the Woods is a great story about having fun doing something I really like..hiking.

Heroes:

John Glenn, a true American hero. My friends, who have not hesitated to come to my aid whenever necessary. All those who are environmentally friendly.

My Blog

Hope

Some times I have to wonder....just what is "hope".  Is it eternal optimism that all things will work out in due time?  Is it a yearning for good things to suddenly appear on the horizon? Wh...

Equation of Enjoyment of Life

For some time, I have been pondering how one might measure enjoyment of life.  There are so many intangibles, that putting a quantitative value on it seems impossible. Ten years ago, I stepped aw...

Success

A few days ago, I posted a thought for the day..for my son.  In my mind, it embodied the very essence of success. "To laugh often and love much; to win the respect of intellingent persons and the...

Faith

I have come to realize that faith is little more than setting aside one's fears.  In the absence of fear, belief in any particular concept can mature.

Lessons

In the mountains, we have reached the time of year when we know that fall will soon be upon us.  We are reaching the end of the botanical growing season and it gave me time to reflect on how I ha...

Balance

Recently, my son gave me a copy of the Alchemist and told me how much he enjoyed reading it.  After reading a few pages, I found myself absorbed by the book and one passage in particular struck m...

Effort

Far too often, we put something off because "it just takes too much effort".  However, when we actually do something we enjoy, we look back and say "gee, that wasn't nearly as hard as I thought i...

Positive thought

Some days, I see a quote that completely conveys my thoughts.  This is one of those days.....   Interestingly, koi, when put in a fish bowl, will only grow up to three inches. When this same...

Improving our life

I find myself stopping to think about the one thing that seems to be prevalent not only with myself but with others.  We often spend considerable energy in dreaming about the way we want thi...
