About Me

As I write, it is June 22, 2006, which happens to be the birthday of Octavia Estelle Butler, the exceptional writer who died earlier this year. As Greg Tate put it recently, Octavia's books 'remain the greatest black/sf films never made'.
She won both Hugo and Nebula awards, and was the first science fiction writer ever to be a recipient of the MacArthur Foundation "Genius" Grant in 1995.
Given all that myspace is good for, this page seemed like a great way, for all those who wish to, to lay a 'virtual flower' as it were, so please, make your add requests, and show some love for Octavia Butler (June 22, 1947 February 24, 2006)
