My blog home: www.talesofasouthernmom.com
Hey y'all. I'm Donna, but my family and friends call me Donna Jane.  I was named "Lisa Jane" at birth and adopted seven days later by my parents, Donald and Sarah Jane Pratt. Now you can guess where "Donna Jane" came from. :) I met my birthmother when I was 18 and she was 42  We have enjoyed a wonderful relationship ever since.  I have been married to Darin for 20 years as of Aug. 5th.  We met in a bible school in Broken Arrow, OK many moons ago.  We now have three beautiful children: Ashton Tyler (17), Evan Patrick (11), and Averi Anna (9).  I've lived in a lot of places in my life.  I grew up on the Mississippi Gulf Coast in a little place called Escatawpa. I have also lived in Tulsa, OK, Jackson, MS and Lakeland, FL.  If there's one thing I've learned it's that people desire to know and be known and to love and be loved without judgment.  I was raised in church and have been a Christian all my life.  At this point in life's journey I have come to realize that acceptance from God doesn't come from doing and saying all the right things.  That's performance.  God loves me regardless of what I do and say (or don't do and say).  His grace is an amazing thing.  I love God but I have divorced religion.  If there's one thing I've finally figured out for sure it's the more I learn, the less I realize I actually know.  As a result, I'm taking a break from "church" for now so I can reevaluate my beliefs. I have more questions than I do answers these days. One of my biggest questions is "Why would God go to the trouble to send Jesus to die such a brutal death for mankind if 90% of them would end up in hell?" This, among many other questions, has caused me to reevaluate a lot of what I've been taught. For the first time in my life I'm actually thinking outside my religious box. It's scary but very freeing at the same time. I've never been happier.  Oh sure, there was a time I thought I had it all figured out... God, life, and people.  What I now know is that God will not be put in a box, life isn't fair, and people will never cease to amaze me.  More than anything I enjoy spending time with the people I love, be it my family or friends.  Nothing is more delightful to me than sitting around with a good cup of coffee or good food and rehashing memories, telling stories, and laughing 'til it hurts.  I got on myspace to meet new friends and keep up with old ones.  If you've actually read down this far then apparently I've piqued your interest so have a look around.  I enjoy writing so by all means read my blog, look at my pics and peruse my interests.  If you think we might have something in common send me a message, along with your friend request.  As long as you are a legitimate person looking for friendship I would be glad to make your acquaintance. :)
