About Me

Welcome to the Museo Guadalupe Aztlan website. Museo Guadalupe Aztlan was founded in March of 1994. It exists to promote indigenous art to those in the Houston, Texas area as well as to those around the world.HISTORY OF MUSEO GUADALUPE AZTLANMuseo Guadalupe Aztlan (MGA) had a humble beginning in the 1980's. The mission of MGA was simple: to promote Indigenous folk art of the Americas while including the Chicano-Latino community. The roots of Museo Guadalupe Aztlan date back to the late 1980's. The parent organization was Artesanias Quinto Sol led by Jesus Cantu Model, M.Ed.. Marcos Mena and Mela Orozco. The first location that MGA operated out of was at the Centro Aztlan located at 5115 Harrisburg.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTORMuseo Guadalupe Aztlan began as a volunteer organization in 1994, and today we have four part-time employees who participate in teaching children about art and culture of the Americas. Moreover, we have not forgotten that our most-prized target group is children. In short, your donation will be spent providing effective teaching methods and traditions to children, while care will be given to improve their self-esteem. We expect all of our employees to treat our clients -- the children -- as if they were their own.In light of the ever-growing Latino(a) population in Houston, Texas, our greatest challenge will be to locate new venues for our programming. Thus far, we have been fortunate to have a superb working relationship with community and public organizations in Houston, TexasThe best way to help MGA carry out its mission of providing cultural programs and activities in Houston's underserved Chicano-Latino communities is to become a member of MGA. I hope you seriously consider joining us as a member!
