About Me

Susan has been interpreting music with her mid 19th century Tyrolean bass (Bertha) since the not so early age of 16. Over the years she's had the pleasure of working with many of the industries top artists and orchestras including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Los Angeles Music Center Opera, Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, New York City Ballet and San Diego Opera. Currently her "day job" is playing with the San Diego Symphony as Associate Principal Bass.At times Susan will take a break from conventional concert playing to work in Hollywood's studios playing on soundtracks, jingles and records as well as backing artists on Jay Leno's Tonight Show. The summer time brings a change of scenery to her life by participating in the Peter Britt Festival located in the quaint town of Jacksonville, Oregon. Other summer ventures have included playing with the Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival, Mainly Mozart Festival, Pacific Music Festival and the National Repertory Orchestra where she was a featured soloist in 1999.During her time away from "Bertha" Susan enjoys a life of Yoga, gourmet food, single malt scotch, travel and hiking.
