Grisley

Grisley was founded in New Orleans in 2004 as a group of friends that had a love for music. It was four guys writing music in a small room in one of our parent's houses. We then began to look for other members to join the band that had the same tastes in music and the same goals. After some adjustments were made, David Womax (vocals) and Trey Derbes (drums) joined the band. After we had written a few songs, we began to work on recording a demo. We spent a week in David's apartment recording and emerged with a demo CD called "Coated In Gore". After booking a few last minute shows we were able to sell all 200 CDs that we had originally made. When ex-drummer, Trey Derbes (who plays on the demo CD Coated in Gore), moved to LA in pursuit of his music dreams, the opportunity presented itself for Dayne Womax to join the band. The current lineup includes David Womax (guitars, vocals), Dayne Womax (drums, vocals), Matt Schmitt (bass, vocals), and Billy White (guitars, vocals). Grisleys current lineup has been close friends for the better part of 5 years. Dayne and David, both 21, met Matt and Billy who were just entering high school. At the time, the Womax brothers were playing with Outplay, a legendary underground band in the New Orleans and Baton Rouge scenes. With Dayne and David as teachers, Matt and Billy learned their instruments and began to play music. An official band was never formed until years later when everything fell into place. Grisley has played many shows in New Orleans and Baton Rouge. Every show produced a larger crowd of loyal and supportive fans. With more songs finished, Grisley began recording a new demo when; unexpectedly, Hurricane Katrina hit, ruining the studio and Grisley's masters, and changing their lives. With nowhere to live, Dayne and David settled in Austin, Texas and Billy and Matt moved to Baton Rouge. All of the members of the band are back in New Orleans and ready to rock. With plenty of new songs and a new recording planned for this summer, Grisley is ready to take over the local music scence again! Keep on the lookout for a Grisley show near you!!
