Free Myspace PollsLet me start with my most memorable season, it was 1978 ! 1978 MVP / Hits 213 / 2B 25 / 3B 15 / HR 46 / RBI 139 / BA .315 / SLG. 600 / AB 677 / R 121 / SB 7 / G 163 (Yes 163 due to the one game playoff...you know THE Bucky Dent playoff game) Jim did not miss one game that entire season which is unheard of. Jim was always in great shape and for the most part was as durable as they come. A true fixture in front of that green wall in left field.James Edward Rice Born March 8, 1953 Anderson, SC. Jim was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 1st round (15th pick) of the 1971 amateur draft. His career spanned 14 years with the Red Sox ending on September 25, 1989 when fans were told that the Red Sox were not exercising their option on Jim Rice's contract.
