The McGriddles is the brand name for a breakfast sandwich available at McDonald's in the United States, Canada, and Japan. All McGriddles sandwiches feature "griddle cakes" as the baked product that holds it together. These are similar to small pancakes, but also contain an injection of maple-flavored syrup deep inside their griddle folds. The top of the griddle cake is embossed with the McDonald's logo. The McGriddles was first introduced in McDonald chains in 2003. The sandwich is often referred to as the "McGriddle".
