Himmel formed spontaneously sometime in late 1981 as a "jam" outlet for various members of the late 70s, early 80s rock/new wave band "Mannequin"; I still remember vividly "sitting in" during rehearsals... Henry or Art would throw you a shaker, a kalimba or tamboura and it was thrilling to feel as if part of the band. But Himmel was not a jam-band; the pieces were complex, and worked-out. Still one of my all time favorite bands!
We'll try to put up some samples of live versions; the songs on this site were recorded at Toby "Become a Rock Star Today" Torres' old studio next to Taco Haven on South Presa street in San Antonio, Texas.
