Complex Concepts

My name is TJ Brasted and I was born in Cummberland, NC on march 10,1982. I moved to milwaukee, WI before I can even remember. I started playing guitar when I was 15 and basically got hooked. Then I got into a rock band when I got my first eletric guitar but the drummer started to stop showing up to band practice and the bassist an I had diffrent style in music so I got a beat machine and started producing beats. Then when I was seventeen I was working with some rappers from my high school who just never showed up. The only good thing that came from it was that one of the rappers let me use his turntables. Actually he left them at my house for a while so I started buying records and trying to juggle two of the same tracks together. They were the worst turntables you could get the gemini XL-100's so that made it very difficult to juggle but I found it fun anyways. Then he came to pick them up and I stoped DJing and I just continued to produce an play guitar. So I got into MCing on a four track recorder over my beats and my guitar since no one would show up to rehearse I would just do it all myself. Then I got into the rave culture just walking around at shows not really hearing anything I really liked for a year or so. Then I went to a bad bay bill show in madison,WI it was the same old same old nothing that I really liked until I was about to leave then I seen an MC on stage speaking so fast I was asking myself if he was even speaking english or just making up words either way I thought it sounded so raw. Later I started producing with another producer (who I'm not going to name because it turned out very badly)when I realized I liked to do all the work. Towards the end of our production together I went through a traumatic experience which changed my life and the way I viewed life. I became a very spiritual person after that and began to see things into a whole new light. My faith grew but so did my insanity reality was know longer the same. Next thing I know I was building my studio piece by piece experimenting with diffrent styles of music but drum an bass was the style and sound that captured my soul. I started buying DNB records to listen to how the producers formulated their songs. Then I started DJing again mixing my tracks together than other producers tracks and found to be alot more fun than I thought. I used to despise DJ's I considered them parasites who just made money off of other producers talents and lacked skills themselfs. Now I'm exactly what I despised a DJ but I also produce,MC,engineer and play guitar and now I couldn't imagine not doing anyone of them. Now I produce various styles of music but the majority of it is DNB.
