NEWS JUST IN: Cool Manchester radio program Under The Pavement plays War To The Rhythm of W.H.Auden by Christ! on its playlist for September 20th, 2006. See http://www.underthepavement.org/playlists/september20/septem ber20.html

REVIEW IN MAXIMUM ROCK'N'ROLL: IN THE OCTOBER 2006 EDITION IT SAYS: "Twelve tracks of melodic anarcho-punk from Chicago. I don't actually know if these folks consider themselves anarchists, but everything from the subject matter, to the layout, to the writing in the accompanying booklet, derives its inspiration from the output of CRASS and their cohorts (especially Zounds and The Mob). Each song begins with a short spoken-word explanation, and tackles a specific subject that fuel's CHRIST!'s hatred for the capitalist system. The lyrics are extremely direct and the music is sparse, kinetic DIY punk. You might not agree with all of their lofty ideals, but you will find yourself singing along. I understand they distribute this CD for free to anyone that wants it, so you can't go wrong at that price... (AM)

The reviewer, MRR writer Allan McNaughton also put the Christ! CD in his Top 10!

Influences:

No more heroes any more, no more heroes any more...

Patrik Fitzgerald, folk punk hero - the most genuine songs you'll ever hear, great songs critiquing the system without being preachy, and witty to boot.

Karl Marx - for showing workers a way out of a society based on employment of the many by the few. of course the final showdown that boots out the owners has never happened... yet!

CR(A)SS for spearheading what punk should have been - ordinary people recording secret messages to other ordinary people - their three Bullshit Detector compilations are probably as good as rock ever got.

Musicians who experimented, widening the envelope, artists who saw beyond the horizon, the dreamers, the foolishly hopeful, the impossibilists, the sanely insane and insanely sane, and the rest of us little bugs on the dying carcass of capitalism......

here is the art we used to illustrate our anti-war song called War To The Rhythm Of W.H.Auden - which you can hear on our myspace site!
