Sounds Like:
“Being in a band†is something all too common for many kids around the world. But what does it take to be a band that stands out? A band completely different from everyone else around them? What does it take to be something extraordinary, something that can stun people into silence and blow their minds?
It takes courage, dedication, bravery, good musicianship and an extreme passion for doing what you love.
Cursing Cordelia have all this and more.
Some people think of music as a hobby. To most people it comes second. To many people music is something that is perhaps, something in the background, simply a soundtrack to something more complicated.
Cursing Cordelia have given pretty much their entire lives to their music, and to them it’s that “something complicatedâ€, that is simply the starting point.
Cursing Cordelia were formed in April 2006, almost purely through coincidence and luck.
Remaining founding members of the band- guitarist Gareth Day and vocalist Cerys Humphries- met on a 3 day song writing course run by Black River Arts, and after discovering how well they worked together, and vastly becoming close friends, decided to put together a band.
Formerly known as “Inertiaâ€, they were soon joined by Andrew Phillips who immediately brought in a fuller, more energetic sound with him. After many hardships and complications, Cursing Cordelia often found it hard to believe they could carry on, but from the darkness of their awkward past came something beautiful; after joined by the talented Josh Simpson on rhythm guitar, From Paris with Love- a band that they once aspired to play with- unfortunately split, and Cursing Cordelia immediately gained interest from vocalist Shaun Preece and his brother, drummer Scott Preece.
They were asked to join the band after just one practise, and Cursing Cordelia then discovered a whole new sound and persona. They were no longer “just a band from Bridgendâ€, and soon the 6- piece double fronted sextet were gaining a massive fan base, a reputation for putting on huge live shows, and were beginning to feel like a family once again.
To this day, Cursing Cordelia are closer than ever, with huge songs, mastering deadly hooks, grinding bass lines, and hard melodies of which Wales have never heard the likes of before. With vast aspirations, colossal energy and an army of fans and friends behind them, Cursing Cordelia are looking to set the world alight, and are willing to do what ever it takes to do so.
Cursing Cordelia are like nothing you’ve ever heard, or seen, ever before. 6.13.08 - Cursing Cordelia’s break officially over!
