Influences: This festival wants to mix and create meetings between music and cinema. We don't want to create a new artistic category. Screen Music is only a place wide open for musical creation. It could be a musicien who wants to make music for a silent movie or a director who wants to make a film for a music. And it could also be a video clip played live but it has to be a creative approach with artistics meanings.
Until now, we've worked with old silent movies and we've asked some musicians to make a score they played live. It's great to see people discover and appreciate old silent films with live music. These kind of movies are very interesting because of their visual effects and they give to the musicians a space for creation. Thanks to this approach, people understand that these movies (not only slapstick) are also part of cinema, and musicians keep them alive.
And we want to promote other experiences like that, new meetings with new films and new musicians...
