Legacy was formed in early spring 2006 after Jono and Drew decided they wanted to create a commited and unique metal project. Three other metal heads joined up including a bass player named Jonathan park (who had previously been in Drews last band) and they decided to create their own version of what they deemed metal. As it turned out five became four and then four became three and after losing a frontman and a drummer it all seemed a bit doomed by the end of summer 2006.
As chance would have it Legacy found its salvation in the form of a new drummer by the name of Nick De Vries. Nick's continued commitment, perseverence and patience (not to mention his absurd Black/death metal drumming) complemented the remaining members perfectly and breathed new life into the band. Six months of hard practise and some heavy duty songwriting resulted in a reborn Legacy.
As well as being Legacy's Vocallist, Jono is also an accomplished professional guitar player gaining inspiration from Steve Vai, Children of Bodom, Cradle of Filth, God Forbid Arch Enemy, InFlames and various other bands ranging in styles from power metal to black and melodic death metal.
Although a lead guitarist, Drew's true love lies in his rhythmic playing looking up to players like his idol John Schaffer for inspriration. Heavily influenced by Iced Earth, Pantera, Children of Bodom, InFlames, God Forid, Racer X and Sonata Arctica.
Bass player Jonathan Park enforces the hard rhythmic style of Legacy. J's influnces range from in and outside of metal including VictorWooten, Arch Enemy and the Chili Peppers.
Nick successfully combines blast beats, double kick and death style drumming, drawing influence from Dream Theater, Origin, Nile,
Hate Eternal, Mendeed, Slayer,
Dimmu Borgir etc .
Legacy hope you enjoy thier music and would like to thank everyone who has shown their continued support over the last year and all the bands we've played with.
Keep it Metal
