I am here for Friends

About Me

Hi, I'm Jamie, my surname is Yapp (hence the strange log in name and address) and that is honestly my real surname I think it's funny cause it rhymes with loads of things, go on see for self, at last count it was about 25 I think (sad I know, I play games using my own name, but hey, sometimes I'm just plain bored). I would start off by describing myself as half Dutch which is cool, cause it gives me sumut to talk about and I'm quite proud of that fact, although it does lead to me being the butt of numerous jokes, mainly for my pronunciation of 'mayonnaise', which seems to make my friends laugh, but I just don't get it? so I guess you'd have to ask them about it. As for my personality I'd describe myself as a happy-go-lucky Christian lad who's always game for a laugh (I no what your thinking and the answer is yes there are Christians who are game for a laugh). My claim to fame is that I have won a general election for the Liberal Democrats, and I don't think anyone can say that they've done that (alright I'll level with you, it was in school but the facts speak for themselves, a win is a win). I also like to think of myself as somewhat of a comedian as I've always been able to make people laugh (but then I guess everyone's a comedian in their own mind, so I'll let you judge for yourselves) I'd also say that I have a lust for life, meaning I enjoy new challenges and love meeting new people (I'd like to say I thrive on it but that just sounds weird to me) all in all I'd say I have a fun loving personality which I think rubs off on people, so that ain't no bad thing. Physically I'm what most people would call tall, although I'm not dark and as for handsome I'll let you judge, although my start picture isn't too promising. I was a Zombie. Nuff said, and it made me laugh so I put it up, there are more photos in my pics but I'm not sure that they're any better. I passed my A-levels some months back now, seems like yesterday though and am now at university, De Montfort University that is and it's in Leicester, to answer your next question. I'm studying (If you could call it that) English. Which is fun (Ahhh, all that education and the best word I can come up with is Fun). Leicester, seems nice, windy but nice, shame there has to be another university to ruin it for everyone. I hate to say it, but if you're reading this and you do happen to belong to the toilet that is Leicester Uni, then I'm sorry we can't be friends, it just can't happen, and although I haven't checked, I am fairly certain that people from De Montfort (The best uni, DMU! DMU!) and people from Leicester Uni being friends is actually illegal. It's even illegal in America! So sorry bout that! However anyone else is welcome! I would one day like to travel round the World and learn how to do numerous crazy things (I just don't know what they are yet, so I guess I'll just go with the flow), I want to have stories to tell in the future so that would be the main reason for travel but also because I think life would get boring fast if I didn't have a dream, but hey, I guess we'll see what happens cause life's there to be lived. Wow, that was pretty deep, I even amazed myself there for a minute... but it passed... and now I'm thirsty, so I'll finish this section how I started it, I'm Jamie and I guess what I'm saying is, enjoy my page and come back and visit anytime you like, cause I'd like that, and that's a good enough reason for anyone to come back. Now the challenge of the next section I'm gonna need some time to think, who would I like to meet...? ..

My Interests

Ah my interests, this is where we find we have lots in common or nothing at all, but my interests aren't too wacky so there's a good chance we'll have something in common... unless you like wacky hobbies, in which case you must be cool, so I like you. My interests are mainly sporting based I like all the usual things Football, Mountain Biking, Basketball, Running and Swimming. Nothing radical there, I like to watch extreme sports, but haven't really done any although I'd love to try surfing, climbing, mountain boarding and zorbing (It's where you roll down a hill inside a big ball, granted it's not everyone's cup of tea) I like singing, I'm not what you'd call classically trained but I've been told I've got a good Rock 'n Roll voice which is nice if I want to be in a band cause I don't currently play an instrument, I want to, but it's deciding which one's for me, I'm getting closer to Guitar but then doesn't everyone play guitar? so I'm hardly being radically original there but I do think it's one of the most practical instruments around, so now I have to find the money to buy one, cause good ones can be quite pricey. Anyway other than watching films and playin computer games that about sums up my interests hopefully we share some... Ah, music, now we're getting interesting this could take some time...

I'd like to meet:

Well I've thought of a few people mostly musicians cause I dream of being in a band someday but for now that's just a pipe dream. I'd love to meet legendary bands such as The Who, Iron Maiden, Nirvana,The Kinks, Metallica artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Louis 'Satchmo' Armstrong & Glenn Miller (I love Jazz!), The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Ramones, Rage Against The Machine but also individuals such as Slash and Dave Grohl both of whom are living legends, the list goes on and on I honestly can't think of every legendary musician that I would like to meet but let's just say they're numerous. I'm not gonna be very original by saying that I'd like to meet anyone who has ever stood up for human rights in any way shape or form cause they're the truly inspirational people who change our world and I'm sure they'd have something to say. I'd also like to meet the squad of my beloved Aston Villa (what can I say I love my football), I suppose I would have to name a few authors being an English student but I'm not gonna... you can't make me... I'll do what I like it's my page. But in all honesty I just can't think of a favourite author right now I guess I'd say J.R.R Tolkien mainly cause he wrote my favourite book... which I guess is the definition of 'favourite author'... whadya know I do have a favourite author... God bless you Mr. Tolkien. I'm sure I have some famous historical figures I'd like to meet to but there's so many people in history that my brain's hurting trying to think of them so they'll have to wait. Fiction wise I'd quite like to meet Frodo or Aragorn (noticing a Lord of the Rings theme, you should be) they both helped save the World from the dark forces which is more than I've done today, although I have just made a fantastic breakfast that I'm quite proud of, but it's just not quite the same as saving the World. Anyway I've got some business to take care of in the interests section... and Lord knows I have got interests... Jimi Hendrix - Purple Haze (Live at Woodstock (Re-mastered in 1999))

Music:

My music taste is what I'd call eclectic (It means I like a bit of everything, if you didn't understand my attempt at showing off) I'm really mainly into any side of Rock from metal to indie from punk to fifties Rock 'n Roll and from glam rock to funk rock I really span most genres, I'm what some people call the Genre Spanner (A little bit of Mighty Boosh knowledge there) I'm also into Jazz music, big time and also Classical music, I've also been known to dabble in Hip-hop and Dance although I'm not so fond of those I do quite like old school hip-hop by that I'm talkin Run DMC, De La Soul, The Beastie Boys etc... You know, when hip-hop had a message more than just drive-by's, honeyz and bling. I have also recently stumbled on the wonders of scratching and beatboxing, I wouldn't say my life was changed, but my eyes were opened (Cause apparantly they'd been closed according to that phrase, but I'm not blind?)

Movies:

Favourite Movies, well I think it's quite obvious the Lord of the Rings trilogy is top of my list, but I do like other films, strangely enough mainly trilogies such as Indiana Jones, Blade and The Matrix (although the third one was a bit weak) I also love films like The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile and Forrest Gump just cause they're epic but then I do also enjoy a good comedy Anchorman, Dodgeball, Team America, Naked Gun and The Monty Python films to name but a few. All in all I guess I just enjoy films and don't have a particular favourite genre. As for television...

Television:

I'm hardly original if I say 'Lost', but, hey, good TV is good TV and 'Lost' in my books is good TV. I'm one of those people who regularly has the TV on but never really watches it, and now I'm a student I don't have a TV. I like cartoons such as 'The Simpsons', 'Family Guy', 'Futurama' and 'South Park' (although I don't have cable so I can't watch it anymore) I also love 'Father Ted', now that's funny, and I've recently been introduced to the World of The Mighty Boosh, don't know how I missed that for so long! I guess I generally watch comedies and films on TV, and as I've already talked about films then I guess it's really just comedy that I watch, but hey, that's no bad thing, laughter is good for you... apparantly, so in that case I must be incredibly healthy... maybe even invincible (well, let's not go crazy!) Now then, with all that time watching TV, do I really have time to read books...

Books:

The answer my friends is 'yes', I do like reading (not the place, although the place is quite nice, it has a rather good annual festival) anyway one of my favourite books is... well, I'll let you guess, it shouldn't be difficult I've mentioned it in virtually every section... What, 'Jane Eyre' well I'm fairly certain I haven't mentioned that, now come on try again... Yes, that's it... 'Lord of the Rings', now that wasn't so difficult was it. Yes unsurprisingly, it's 'Lord of the Rings', I guess you could call me obsessed, and I'd tend to agree, but I do like other books, i.e. 'The Da Vinci Code' and 'Angels and Demons', not very original and not very Christian you might say, but then I guess you could find blasphemy in them if you wanted to, but I just think that they're good adventure novels, although you are right I don't agree with most of the things Dan Brown states as truth. I also really enjoyed 'Birdsong' by Sebastian Faulks even though I did have to study it for school, I thought it was a fantastic read and I'd recommend it to anyone. But my number one book is... unsurprisingly 'The Bible', the number one bestseller of all time, what more needs to be said. I even rate it above 'Lord of the Rings', which takes something special, and that's what it is.

Heroes:

My heroes! Wow, that's difficult I guess I'd pretty much tell you to read the 'would like to meet' section, as that pretty much sums up my heroes, but as cheesy as it may sound, my mates are my heroes, cause anyone who's there for you when you need them most is a hero in my book. Anyway, I hope you've enjoyed my page and getting to know the real Jamie Yapp (a name which I think is quirky and sums me up perfectly, cause as you may have gathered I quite enjoy talking). So I've wrote a heck of a lot today and I hope you enjoyed reading it feel free to add me to your friends list. Now I'm off, cause I've typed so much that I've got a headache... you know the sort of headache where your whole head hurts, even your face... whew, I really need some aspirin. Anyway, it's been fun writing this and once again I hope you enjoyed reading it. Good-bye! And keep watching the skies... I don't know why yet... I guess something's gotta happen soon otherwise people wouldn't keep sayin it... so... yeah, keep watchin... It's quite big innit... you know... the sky... What? it's just a thought, is all... What?... you don't just have thoughts too?... Fine then I'll be going then. Good-bye! (p.s. I'm not really angry, I was just jokin) C u soon!
