About Me

..
In the past I've shared some things about me that at the time seemed right and quite honestly therapeutic. However, looking back I don't think I would of used this forum as an outlet. I guess that's where the saying comes in you live and learn.... If there is anything you want to know about me, just ask.

Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Realize that true happiness lies within you. Waste no time and effort searching for peace and contentment and joy in the world outside. Remember that there is no happiness in having or in getting, but only in giving. Reach out. Share. Smile. Hug. Happiness is a perfume you cannot pour on others without getting a few drops on yourself.

I recently read something by the Dalai Lama that talked about the smile being a very important feature of the human face. He said bc of human intelligence that the good part of human nature can be used in the wrong way, such as sarcastic smiles or dipomatic smiles(which create suspicion). He then says how important a genuine, affectionate smile plays in our day-to-day lives and that it is our attitude that creates our smile. Then he goes on to say that it's illogical to expect smiles from others if one does not smile oneself.

I read this by the Dalai Lama while sitting at the beach in Del Mar yesterday(Aug 16) and it stuck in my head. He talked about "spiritual development" and by spiritual he wasn't necessarily refering to religious faith. He used the word "spiritual" to mean basic human good qualities. These are: Human Affection, a sense of involvement, honesty, discipline, and human intelligence properly guided by good motivation. We have all these things from birth;they do not come to us later in our lives. Religious faith, however, comes later. He then says further on that regardless of your beliefs most teachings and traditions teach us to be good human beings, to be warm-hearted people. That they simply strengthen the basic human good qualities which we have from birth.Morality of Individual Liberation:requires the self-awareness needed to refrain from physical and verbal actions that bring harm to others. This means ABANDONING what Buddhists call the 10 nonvirtues. These are organized into 3 categories. The PHYSICAL NONVIRTUES are killing, stealing, and sexual misconduct. The VERBAL NONVIRTUES are lying, divisive talk, harsh speech, and sensless chatter. The MENTAL NONVIRTUES are covetousness, harmful intent, and wrong views.Since motivation precedes and drives actions, controlling it is the best way to prevent impulsive and possibly abusive physical and verbal actions. In daily practice you learn to continually examine your motivation.

Read More.....I read this paragraph in Gary Zukov's book, "The Seat of the Soul".If you choose to focus your attention on the st renghts of others, on the virtues of others, on the part of others that strive for the highest, you run through your system the higher-frequency currents of appreciation, acceptance and love. Your energy and influence radiate instantaneously from soul to soul. When you are compassionate with yourself and others, your world becomes compassionate. You draw to yourself other souls of like frequency, and with them you create, through your intentions and your actions and your interactions, a compassionate world. If you direct your energy into criticism of others with the intention to disempower them, you create Negative Karma.

Books:

The POWER of NOW, The Secret, and The Art of Living were 3 of the books that turned my life into a more positive direction. Another book that was recommended to me is The Seat of the Soul which I will most likely read twice. I hope anyone who has ever felt sad, alone, hopeless and despair discovers the tools we all have within us to change our lives. We as a human race deserve and seek happiness....

Heroes:

My mother for numerous countless reasons.....mostly for developing me into the person I am today. As I Look BackAs I look back on my life I find myself wondering..... Did I remember to thank you for all that you have done for me? For all of the times you were by my side to help me celebrate my successes and accept my defeats?Or for teaching me the value of hard work, good judgement, courage, and honesty?I wonder if I've ever thanked you for the simple things... The laughter, smiles, and quiet times we've shared? If I have forgotten to express my gratitude For any of these things, I am thanking you now.... and I am hoping that you've known all along, how very much you are loved and appreciated.- Author Unknown.A sister is a gift to the heart, a friend to the spirit, a golden thread to the meaning of life. ~Isadora JamesYou keep your past by having sisters. As you get older, they're the only ones who don't get bored if you talk about your memories. ~Deborah Moggach
