About Me

I edited my profile with Thomas’ Myspace Editor V3.6 !

... and in case we needed more proof that I really AM a lame-o trapped in the wrong era:
You Are Romanticism
You are likely to see the world as it should be, not as it is.
You prefer to celebrate the great things people do... not the horrors they're capable of.
For you, there is nothing more inspiring than a great hero.
You believe that great art reflects the artist's imagination and true ideals. What Art Movement Are You?Beyond the classifications:If I knew, I'd tell you. I collect bachelor's degrees, I'm currently doing the itinerant theatre thing, I was the winner of my design class' 2004 REM Deprivation Award for 87 consecutive hours of wakefulness under deadline, I sang Sop2 in a fantastic choir called Oran, I write dancehall protest songs, I miss being a writer, and my eyes are brown. Everything else is subject to change.

My Interests

Talking, music, theatre, books, travel, thinking, kickboxing, dancing, capoeira, hiking, noise, visuals, stories, goofiness, intelligence.

I'd like to meet:

The rest of my ilk.

Music:

If it's got a hook -- lyrical, rhythmic, meoldic -- I'll listen to it. And if I can feel it in my sternum or my belly, I'll probably play it again.

Movies:

I continue to hold a torch for Whale Rider; otherwise: Childstar, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Oong Bak, Pirates of the Carribbean, Rumble in the Bronx, Chocolat, The Red Violin, Matrix I (oh how the mighty have fallen), Traffic, Hysteria (no, it's not a movie, it's a play, and it's BRILLIANT), and Dead Again.

Books:

1421, Shadowbox, Fast Food Nation, Cod, Terrible Honesty, the Odyssey, Posessed, Hotel Pastis, Humans, the Agamemnon....

Heroes:

Your results:You are Superman Superman 90% Spider-Man 80% Supergirl 80% Hulk 75% Wonder Woman 70% Green Lantern 65% Robin 50% The Flash 45% Iron Man 40% Catwoman 35% Batman 30% You are mild-mannered, good,
strong and you love to help others.

A HOMELESS Society Miss!

I'm looking for a new place to stay in Calgary, preferably starting March 1 or earlier, until the end of April when my current Quest tour finishes. Possibility for longer term totally negotiable, hous...

A Society Miss

I just found out that the picture of me goofing off, trying to feed one of the Animated Objects board members to a dragon puppet, ran in the Society pages of not only the Calgary Herald, but of the Gl...

Which is good, 'cause I'm too busy tying to make the festival happen to tell you much about it. Visit the website! Come to the party! Shake it to Chad Van Gaalen! Check out Paul Zaloom! Worship the Ch...

Come see Crossing the Mediterranean!

...because it's just darned gorgeous (the marionette in the picture from the Green Fools' website is onstage for a single minute; needless to say, there are many, many more!) Oh, yes: and I'm sta...

THE GAP ACTIVIST/GAP IN ACTIVISM

(This is an amalgamated version of an article that I had published in The Edmonton Journal, Vancouver's 24Hours, and Calgary's FFWD -- now that the publication restrictions have expired!)   Phila...

Got skillZ, where's the bling?

As a non-welder in the fever of Alberta's economy, I'd like to politely note a disconnect in the monetary valuing of the gigs available to me. I'm greatly looking forward to stage managing a sho...

Catching up

I would just like to announce a momentous event: I just filed my 2005 taxes! I'm caught up!!! And I only had to put up with 20 minutes of being hit on by a socially inept 50-year-old accountant to do ...

Dramatis Personae Non Grata

Really, I think that this whole theatre thing was a mistake. Perhaps medicine is the path, after all. Or retail. Whatever.

Really, I'm soooooo sorry!

So, having just received an apology that was a -- a good effort?(Yes, I am indeed trying to be nice, and I may very well be failing) -- but lacking, I've done a little research and come up with some i...

Star-crossed

Anyone out there good with astrology? 'Cause I'm starting to wonder what powers are frowning on me this year. This morning, 20 minutes before I was due at work, I walked out the front door of my apart...
