About Me
My friends tell me I talk a lot.. I have the tendency to get animated when im communicating something I feel strongly about using big words, strong hand gestures, and repeating the same point over and over again. Some would call it intense, I call it passionate. However, this passion wasn't always received with open arms as I soon realized my dialogue had rapidly turned into a monologue that was being received with blank faces and eye rolling. But my dear friends, how I love them, would indulge me and let me rant on and on about whatever it was I was obsessing on at the moment be it boys, work, money, boys, parents, boys etc.. So, how perfect singing is for me since it allows me to have at least 4 minutes of uninterrupted time where I can relay my message as loud, using as many hand gestures, and repeating the same sentence as many times as I want and to top it all off, the repetition is catchy and the eye rolling is now replaced by cheers.
In all seriousness though, creating music has been the most fulfilling experience of my life so far. I was always a precocious child (baby talk was never part of my vernacular) and by the age of two I was singing the full lyric to Tommorrow from Annie on the stage at the Concord hotel in the Castkills infront of hundreds of people, and I never stopped. Well I stopped singing Annie but I never stopped singing as my parents, teachers, and siblings will tell you.
Over the years, ive come to appreciate many types of music from the talented vocal prowess of Whitney and Mariah to the haunting stylings of Eva Cassidy, Jeff Buckley, Angie Stone, and Ella Fitzgerald, to the genius poetry of Bob Dylan, John Mellencamp, James Taylor, Simon and Garfunkel, and so many more.
Though singing was always my forte and I spent many a summer playing Maria (West Side Story, Sound of Music), it wasn't until two years ago that I discovered the thrill of arranging my thoughts and feelings into a melody. Each song I write is its own story fused with many different experiences either my own or things I have observed or even watched on TV or heard in a song. I believe every moment has the potential to inspire you just have to be open to feel it. I have learned and gained so much about myself as a person, and a friend through my music and the people who have collaborated with me on my journey both in life and in song. I hope we can learn from eachother too because these words are for you, take them and relate them to your own life and pay it forward in whatever way you feel, as I have done with you… :)
