..LIFE OF A SOLDIER/ THIS IS MY LIFEToday: Your alarm goes off, you hit the snooze and sleep for another 10 minutes.He/She stays up for days on end. _________________________You take a warm shower to help you wake up.He/She goes days or weeks without running water. __________________________You complain of a "headache", and call in sick.He/She gets shot at as others are hit, and keeps moving forward. __________________________You put on your anti war/don't support the troops shirt, and go meet up with your friends.He/She still fights for your right to wear that shirt. __________________________You make sure you're cell phone is in your pocket.He/She clutches the cross hanging on their chain next to their dog tags. __________________________You talk trash about your "buddies" that aren't with you.He/She knows they may not see some of their buddies again. __________________________You walk down the beach, staring at all the pretty girls.He/She walks the streets, searching for insurgents and terrorists.__________________________You complain about how hot it is.He/She wears their heavy gear, not daring to take off their helmet to wipe their brow in a 120-140 degree heat. __________________________You go out to lunch, and complain because the restaurant got your order wrong.He/She doesn't get to eat today. __________________________Your maid makes your bed and washes your clothes.He/She wears the same things for weeks, but makes sure their weapons are clean. __________________________You go to the mall and get your hair redone.He/She doesn't have time to brush their teeth today. __________________________You're angry because your class ran 5 minutes over.He's/She's told he/She will be held over an extra 2 months. __________________________You call your girlfriend and set a date for tonight.He/She waits for the mail to see if there is a letter from home. __________________________You hug and kiss your girlfriend, like you do everyday.He/She holds their letters close and smells their love's perfume. __________________________You roll your eyes as a baby cries.He/She gets a letter with pictures of their children, and wonders if they'll ever gonna see them again __________________________You criticize your government, and say that war never solves anything.He/She sees the innocent tortured and killed by their own people and remembers why he/she is fighting. __________________________You hear the jokes about the war, and make fun of men like him.He/She hears the gunfire, bombs and screams of the wounded. __________________________You see only what the media wants you to see.He/her sees the broken bodies lying around them. __________________________You are asked to go to the store by your parents. You don't.He/She does exactly what he/she is told. __________________________You stay at home and watch TV.He/She takes whatever time he/she is given to call, write home, sleep, and eat. __________________________You crawl into your soft bed, with down pillows, and get comfortable.He/She crawls under a tank for shade and a 5 minute nap, only to be woken by gunfire. __________________________You go to bed every night in a warm and comfortable bed.he/she doesnt sleep for days, outside in the rain, heat, and cold...while sleeping with one eye open....thinking if someone is going to take their life. You sit there and judge them, saying the world is probably a worse place because of people like US.If only there were more people like US!
