Heroes:

We are those un-forgiven few. The few who were born, a sheep dog amongst sheep. Unaware of what life held for us. We were then forged in the fires of hell. Raised up in the hands of God, to ward off evil. To stay the wolfs from the flock at night while the sheep sleep. Baptized in the chaos of combat. Ridiculed by those we protect. The unthankful flock feels that we are relics of a past era. They see no danger because we keep it from them. We chose this.And yet, as the flock turns their heads from us. As they dismiss us, taking the freedoms as if it cost the sheep dog nothing, not a word of gratitude. For it is easy to maintain such things, right? We will continue to pay for the passage of the many. With the skin of our backs. The tears of our souls. And the blood of our veins.For we are few, and we are beaten and trodden upon. We are few, but we are blessed for having known such good company. We are few, but we are strong. We are few, but we are proud. We are few, and we are brothers. And as brothers, we carry this burden together. As brothers, we drink, and we sing together. As brothers, we stand, and we fight together. And, all too often… as brothers, we bury our brothers.
