SISTERHOOD
Sisterhood is a very important part of Alpha Omicron Pi. We strive to promote friendship for a lifetime. Being in a sorority is not just about the four years spent at college, it is a lifelong commitment and connection to many wonderful women. Some of our sisterhood events include Holiday gift exchanges, retreats at a nearby lake, baking and serenading, trust building exercises, ski trips, movie nights and random slumber parties.
RECRUITMENT
What are we looking for?
"What we want is high minded, like minded, loyal hearted girls who will work together happily and hard according to their talents for worthy achievements in and for their college. Achievements that shall bring pride to AOII, spur their personal ambitions and help them toward a goal. We want girls who will not only take a lot of fun and happiness out of college but also put some useful service into it, who will have enough grace to be popular, enough generosity to enjoy life with others and the esteem of others, but enough character to do all this without making the slightest concession of principal or conduct."--Stella George Stern Perry, AOII Founder
Tau Gamma participates in Panhellenic recruitment held during the first week of the classes in the fall. For more information, visit the EWU Greek Life page.
PHILANTHROPY
Alpha Omicron Pi's national philanthropy is the Arthritis Research Foundation. Our chapter annually co-hosts a 24 hour teeter-totter-a-thon with a local fraternity to raise money for this cause. In the parking lot of a local grocery store we set up our teeter-totter that reaches nine feet into the air. For twenty four hours we teeter-totter to raise money for the Arthritis Research Foundation. We also participate in some local philanthropies like highway clean-up, and helping at women's shelters.
SOCIAL
So much of college can be studying and class, so why not have fun? Alpha Omicron Pi provides you with an outlet to create those amazing college memories. Socials are such a fun time for Tau Gamma. Each year we hold annual socials including a Halloween event, Crush Party and a life-size Clue Game at night. With Fall approaching, we will be trying some new things like Date Dashes, mixers and multiple house socials. AOII also participates annually in Greek Week and Homecoming. We love to meet new people and have a great time!

♥ Go Greek! ♥
Going to college is an experience all in itself. It is considered to be a life-altering moment that shall aid in determining one's future. A new atmosphere, new faces, and totally new experiences. What better way to achieve the full college experience by going greek. Going greek is the best way to have that full college experience. It guarantees campus involvement, community service, social activities and more. It also gives great opportunities after graduation because of greek and alumnae connections. The best part is, the people you meet become friends and family for life.
The Badge
The badge of Alpha Omicron Pi is composed of the three initial letters of the three words of the Motto, superimposed one upon the next in order, which gives the Fraternity its name. Badges may be worn by initiated members only. Lending or giving the badge to any person not a member of the Fraternity is prohibited. If it is worn with another pin, it is to be placed above it and to the right. No other pin, badge, insignia, such as a fraternity pin, Greek letter indicating the name of a chapter or a symbol denoting an office, may be attached to the badge in any way, whether by a chain or by hanging it on the fastener. A bubble pin guard may be slipped on the pin bar for safety
The Color
Alpha Omicron Pi has only one color, cardinal. It is the color of the Fraternity flower, the ruby and the ribbon sometimes worn under the badge to welcome a new collegiate chapter.
The Jewel
Alpha Omicron Pi has only one jewel, the ruby. The occasional use of pearls or diamonds in special badges has no significance or special meaning.
The Name of the Magazine
TO DRAGMA, the Greek, is translated as "the sheaf." The name was selected for three reasons: because it is a reminder of the common interest whch unites all AOIIs; because it is a record of accomplishment, or harvest; and because it fittingly describes the purpose of such a publication, the uniting of members through communication.
The Monogram
The use of the monogram the superimposed letters A O II, is permitted only in the badge, and other specific items as determined by the Fraternity Ritual, Traditions and Jewelry Committee. It should NEVER be used in lights for a house sign, on programs, stationery, place cards, gifts, favors, recruitment booklets, yearbooks or in any other way. For such purposes, A O II, in sequence, are used.
The New Member Pin
The binding together of wheat into a sheaf in the new member pin represents individuals bound by the common bond of Alpha Omicron Pi.
The Rose
The Nineteenth Century French rose, General Jacqueminot, a deep red rose, was chosen as the flower of Alpha Omicron Pi because its color is the symbol of the central and essential virtue of the Fraternity. Its choice had no connection with any legend, poem or story. This strong red rose, with its overtones of courage and vigor, was selected for its richness of color and fragrance, combines with softness and modesty of bearing. The Jacqueminot Rose is not available at most florists, so any deep red rose which is available may be used.
The Wheat
The wheat indicates usefullness in its harvest. The binding together of the wheat into a sheaf gave Alpha Omicron Pi the new member pin, the name for the magazine, and the rings for the president and international president.
The Panda
While not an official symbol, the Fraternity and our chapters consider the Panda to be its mascot.
