"Evocative," says Pulitzer Prize recipient Mario Davidovsky, "I
couldn't wait to hear what came next."
Jake Monaco picked up the guitar in the mid-90s, mimicking rock/pop
icons such as Dave Matthews, Guster and Ben Folds. Through his
collegiate career at the University of Richmond, Monaco wrote in a
style that grabbed his peers' attention as a fresh voice in the live
music scene. His band, NE3, who opened for the likes of Maroon 5 and
Alana Davis, released a full length CD in 2002 and an EP, "Change" in
2004, who's title track will be featured on the soundtrack to the
upcoming independent film, "Back Soon".
When he wasn't recording or performing, Monaco was studying classical
composition and working in a Music Technology Lab. The culmination of
these three different juxtapositions of music led Jake to his
acceptance into the University of Southern California's "Scoring for
Motion Pictures and Television" (SMPTV) program. “He’s full of life and boundless energy. Give him a chance and he’ll run with it†says program director Brian King. “I’ve always been able to count on Jake to get the job done in a professional manner.â€
Jake Monaco's music has often been described as catchy, intricate and
classy. "A true pleasure to work with," says director Zeus Quijano.
Monaco continues to work in the LA area as a composer for film, tv and
other media.
