About Me

Brian Mackey, in his own words, a manic romantic, says, "He’s in love with the idea of love." Every long winding search of dead ends, broken relationships and struggles could make it easy for someone to just give up. But Brian shows "all of us". From age 5, a small scrawny boy with dirty red glasses and white briefs sat at an out-of-tune piano and did his best John Lennon. He didn’t come from the best of childhoods, but as the great Frank Mc Court would say, "a normal childhood is hardly worth your while".Brian spent a lot of time in the South, in a town called Havana, Florida. Surrounded by beautiful land and paddle-weilding principles that were eager to dole out the corporal punishment, he reflects now with song and lyric. As an accomplished lyricist and singer/songwriter, his song Painted Red aired on the Disney/Family Channel series, Naturally Sadie and is currently recording his debut album, Feng Shui for Slobs (c)
REVIEWS:
---Myspace’s leading "CD Review" site from Los Angeles, California states:
BRIAN MACKEY is one of those kind of guys who could make you just sit back and stare at the wonder of an accomplished singer/songwriter. His song ’Painted Red’ has appeared in the tv show Naturally Sadie, and is a fine piece of work, flowing seemlessly into something that could keep your attention for hours. Truly a talented artist to sit back and chill with for a night.
---The Tri-state area’s "Aquarian Magazine" claims Brian Mackey to be "A True Artist" - Hal Selzer, Aquarian Magazine
---NJCoast.com states:
"The melodies and words stuck to my brain the way ocean saltwater can stick to your skin—a kind of medicine like no other. His songs are based on his experiences. Having been through some tumultuous relationships in his life, he wrote a song for an ex-girlfriend that truly broke his heart and delivered it the way Fed Ex and the E-mail couldn’t — he left it on her answering machine!?   When he introduced the song at SICA, I expected something sharp or biting like some of his other songs. Instead I was treated to a beautiful, heartfelt song about a boy hoping his lost girl will miss him when he’s gone. ’Don’t forget me when I’m gone. Sing my song.’ The crowds give him total silence on this track. - Carole J. Brandi, NJ Coast Magazine
