Regolith

About Me

Regolith formed in 2005 for the purpose of creating music on a geological scale; music of mountains, shifting like glaciers, slow and relentless processes on grand timescales. From deep tectonic ambience to explosive volcanic noise, this is music of stone, designed to be as contemplative and beautiful - yet unpredictable and dangerous - as nature itself.

BALMMO Regolith FTW 2009!
We have an album and another album coming out, shorty. Firstly, the full length single player album "Sap Rising", released on teh mother of all net-labels, Myzuyk on 29th April Two thousand and nine.
Secondly we have another album called Cadre Turf coming out on Soundsasleep.

Both are worth wrapping your ears around.

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: G. Ross - Warped lunar decay , D. Graham - Sedimentary subsonics
Influences: SunnO))), Merzbow, Fennesz, Earth, Growing, Boris, Sun Ra, Olivier Messiaen, Frank Zappa, Pierre Boulez, Ruins, Steve Hillage,George Benjamin, Holy McGrail, Steve Reich, LaMonte Young, Grails, Keith Fullerton Whitman, Oren Ambarchi, Boris, Einojuhani Rautavaara, Behold...the Arctopus.
Sounds Like: A bizarre mix of all of the above. We are really aiming to take the metal aspects of bands such as Sunn0))) and add in orchestral textures reminiscent of Messiaen, Benjamin and Boulez, sometimes building up to something like a Holy McGrail distorto freakout, bringing solos and melodies in the vein of Sun Ra's wonky space jazz, touching on the humour and intensity of Frank Zappa, whilst maintaining the epic soundtrack quality of Earth. All this with just a guitar and laptop....
Record Label: Uncharted audio, Soundsasleep, Myuzyk

Technical notes (warning: pretentious post alert)
