About Me

Christina began playing the flute at age ten and began taking lessons with Mrs. Nancy Ayala in Bakersfield, California at age 13. At her first-ever performance at the California Music Educators Association Solo and Ensemble Festival, she received the highest honor--a Command Performance--and had received this same honor at every performance thereafter until she graduated high school. She has participated in many honors groups including the Kern County Music Educators Association Honor Band and Orchestra as both a junior high and high school student (1998-2002), the Bakersfield Youth Symphony (2001-2002), the California Band Directors Association All-State Honor Band (2002), the California Music Educators Association All-State Honor Band (2002), The President's Quintet (2002-present), and the Intercollegiate Honor Band in Reno, Nevada (2006).
She has been featured on Valley Public Radio's "Young Artist Spotlight," as well as Humboldt State Radio. She has participated in masterclasses taught by Alexa Still, Pamela Ellezy, Elena Duran, Susan Milan, and Keith Underwood. She has participated in the Sequoia Chamber Music Workshop at Humboldt State University, and, in June 2006, traveled with The President's Quintet to The Quintet Of The Americas' Summer Institute at New York University. She co-founded the now defunct Duo Dolce with colleague and bassoonist Iris Smith.
She has also world-premiered various works including Benjamin Boone's "Serenade" for flute choir and Chad Skopp's "Chance Encounter" for flute and clarinet, composed especially for her and colleague Alicia Ramos.
Her musical adventures have taken her on tours to (and through) southern California; Reno and Las Vegas, Nevada; Sacramento, Arcata, and San Diego, California; New Orleans, Louisianna; New York City, New York; and England.
She has completed her Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance at California State University, Fresno, where she studied with Dr. Teresa Beaman. She was an active member of Mu Phi Epsilon, a professional international music fraternity; The National Flute Association; The Golden Key Honor Society; and National Honor Society.
She currently has an active flute studio in Fresno, California, and after completing her degree, she plans to obtain a Master's degree and pursue a very active chamber music and freelancing career. As of June 2009, Christina began private flute instruction with Tracy L. Harris, Yamaha Recording Artist and World-Renowned Flutist.

This video is just too cool. My friend Haley sent it to me, and I think I've shared it with just about everyone! LoL

Sounds Like: A musician making music to share with the world!

If I were a Dead Russian Composer, I would be Igor Stravinsky.

Known as a true son of the new 20th Century, my music started out melodic and folky but slowly got more dissonant and bizzare as I aged. I am a traveler and a neat freak, and very much hated those rotten eggs thrown at me after the premiere of "The Rite of Spring."

Who would you be? Dead Russian Composer Personality Test
