About Me

I'm a teacher in Houston, TX. I teach 6-8 grade band and also spend some time hanging out at the high school working with the low brass section and the marching band.I moved to Houston, TX last year from Wisconsin, where I spent the first 26 years of my life eating cheese, partaking in an adult beverage of choice (a.k.a milk and cookies), and playing my tuba.I graduated from the University of Wisconsin - LaCrosse with a music education degree and quickly proceeded to move as far away from Wisconsin as possible. I'm really not sure why. I love it there and I miss my family. I guess a change of scene was in the cards. And what could be more tempting than the humidity and crazy traffic of a large town such as Houston.

My Interests

Music as my profession may tell you is a love of mine. When I'm not playing an instrument I'm usually singing....which has gotten many mixed reviews from my students. Some think I'm wonderful...naturally, while yet others aren't quite feelin it. I'm not really sure what to make of this. Other intersts include books, puzzles, movies.

I'd like to meet:

...anyone; as long as they are not psycho.

AND...

First female tubaist to recieve a spot with a major symphony orchestra....at age 20!

Music:

Everything.... Especially my boy C.H.A.V.A.Miss ya Jigga!

Movies:

Depends on the day. I always love movies. Some days it's action, others it's comedy, and there is even the need for a chick flick in there now and again.

Television:

...rots the brain. I specifically don't pay for cable so I won't be able to entertain my addiction to Law and Order.

Books:

Now this is a completely different story. I read just about any fiction book I can get my hands on. Some favorites include books by Iris Johanson, Stephan King, Dean Kootz, Brad Melzer, Dan Brown, and John Grisham. I also have all of the Harry Potter books and the Left Behind series. And of course the world-wide best seller...the Bible

Heroes:

My hereos are many in number. My parents How they managed to do such an amazing job raising me in a world that keeps getting crazier by the second is beyond me, My family that got me through everything with their support and love and didn't try to hold me back when I told them all I was leaving, My friends both from college and here in Houston. There have been so many moments that I was on the brink of breakdown because the love and support of my family seemed soooooo far away specially now that I'm in Houston and they have been there with a hug a helping hand or just a word of encouragement letting me know that I'm not alone and no one is going to let me fall.
