The solo Adam Bowen began in 2004 after the break-up of the band the Mendicants. The Mendicants enjoyed some success, playing shows at the Cardinal Bar, The Klinic, and various parties. They even had their song "Hometown" on WMAD. But through personal issues and band differnces, the band was no more. It was at this time Adam decided to write and play solo acoustic style songs, similar to Bright Eyes, Elliott Smith, and Johnny Cash.
