Dave's Tour Diary/Log

About Me

I've set this page up as a way for friends and former co-workers of mine to check in on how I'm doing on my tour of the country with my music group, Psyche Origami. (www.psycheorigami.com) So hopefully everyone will get a kick out of my stories on the road and all the goofy pictures I'll take. And if I meet a few cool people and bands thru MySpace, then that's the icing on the cake!

My Interests

Well, its the main force in my life...MUSIC. Besides trappin for a news network (haha), its what I'm all about. Though hiphop has been my lifeblood since the 80's, I do like being put on to other new forms of music that people dig. But other than that, I love sports (go Cowboys and Auburn!) and I gotta admit I'm a newshound and political junkie. Hmmm...any other interests??...wellllll...I guess I do KINDA like talkin to girls. Damn these hormones...I blame puberty! haha.

I'd like to meet:

Cool people who can laugh at life and love it.

Music:

oh crap. I just listed music as my main interest under the interest column. Oh well. but YES, i love love love music...more importantly hiphop. And no, not Ja Rule or Puffy or whoever is the star of the month on MTV's TRL. See, i was spoiled by growing up during hiphop's Golden Age in the late 80's and 90's...when the music was based on a lot of beautiful jazz instruments and a lot of times, the lyrics had a MESSAGE. Where have those days gone?? Well, it still exists...people like De La Soul, MF Doom, Ghostface, and local groups like Minamina Goodsong, Prophetix and others.

Movies:

I think I love most any movie that has a big twist in it. Probably my favorite movie to watch of all time is Usual Suspects. But I also love Momento, Fight Club, and movies like that. The best movie I've ever seen was Schlinder's List, though its just too emotionally powerful and draining to watch again. Oh, and I love quirky, funny independent movies too. And going to the Drive-In in ATL is one of my favorite things to do.

Television:

Who needs it?!! If it wasn't for sports, the news and maybe the Simpsons, i'd never watch it. I think its created a nation of people who use TV as their crutch for something to do, rather than talk with people and hang out. Unplug it people!

Books:

Well, I sometimes wonder if I still remember how to read. hehe. But seriously, I wish I had more time to read. I do read occasionally...in fact, I just finished the classic Manchurian Candidate and it was incredible! Maybe being on tour, i'll be able to read more.

Heroes:

My family, fellow musicians I like, and any people who truly love life and also aren't afraid to go against the grain in whatever they do.
