Hostyle Tha Genius – HTG for short – is here to do something new with hip-hop. The kind of solid hooks you expect from the genre will be there but in addition you will note a strong sense of creativity and originality emanating from your speakers as the work of HTG comes at you full strength. Get ready for a potent message, solid lyricism, vocal delivery in peak form and beats to bring down the house. HTG isn’t satisfied with doing good hip-hop. It must be great. HTG aims to rank with the best in the biz and with this talent it’s a goal within grasp.
Music
HTG is a master of music, turning out hip-hop and R&B, rich with texture and imbued with solid production values. What sets this music apart from the crowd – apart from the total talent involved – is the artist’s willingness to go down roads less traveled creatively. “My style of music is hip-hop and R&B but there are experimental aspects to it such as use of techno sounds and old school synthesizers and drum kits.” But don’t think this is just some exercise in retro. HTG uses familiar items in bold new ways to create layered hip-hop that make you a slave to the beats.
Music the Drug
“Music is the ultimate high.” Both for creator and as listener, music is something that brings the mind to its purest state of euphoria. The creator is becoming uniquely in touch with his or her own soul while the listener, when exposed to great music, is metaphysically encountering another person’s mind and heart by means of music, and the listener is enabled to seek his or her own spirit. Music is more than entertainment. “You’re creating something that people can use to party or think or just escape everyday life.” From fun to philosophy, music is all encompassing. This is especially true in the music of HTG.
HTG’s Lesson
Consider it HTG’s lesson in writing great music. What it really boils down to is originality. “Be unique and be willing to take chances.” Without risks, creativity cannot flourish, grow and produce music that excels. “Experiment with every sound and change your delivery of words to create different vibes.” And total honestly is also necessary; self-expression must be unadulterated to properly fuel the creative process. “Don’t be afraid to express yourself and show people that you are creative.” And you must bring your brain to the table. Music, above all, must be smart or it will have no lasting value. “Lastly, be intelligent when a song calls for it but you also have to know when to make a song simple and catchy so people can just move to it.”
Work
HTG recently completed work on his first album "Straight Out The Basment Mixtape" and the public will soon be able to enjoy its artistry.
