Legendary Australian stunt man Grant Page (Mad Max, The Man From Hong Kong) arrives in Hollywood to work on a new television series called “Undercover girl starring Monique Van De Ven (Turkish Delight). So far for the plot. Brian Trenchard Smith (Turkey Shoot, Man From Hong Kong and more recently Aztec Rex) basically compiled tons of Grant Page’s greatest stunt work.
See Grant Page slide of a cliff on fire, see Grant Page crash a van and burst trough the wind shield on fire, see Grant Page almost burn himself and Dennis Hopper to a crisp on set of Mad Dog Morgan, see Grant Page being catapulted between cliffs, see him hang from skyscrapers, run over by cars, fall of motorcycles and tons more groundbreaking stunt work.
There’s also loads of footage from colleagues such as Max Aspin (Mad Max 2, Razorback, Howling III), Tom Slaven’s insane kempo karate team and highlights from chase movies such as Speed trap with Joe Don Baker and HB Halicki’s masterpiece Gone in 60 Seconds. In between Grant Page teams up with a reporter, Margaret Gerard, star of the show Monique Van De Ven and the 70’s rock band Sorcery who’s stage antics make KISS go home in shame and sell their guitars. Think sword impalements, explosions, fireballs, a cosmic battle between the King of Wizards and the Prince of darkness…You get the idea.It all comes across as a fast moving semi documentary film filled to the max with insanity, 70’s style! Just like the tagline says, “A death wish at 115 decibelsâ€.Highly recommended for fans of 70’s weirdness and insane, crude stunt work.Check out the introduction and Q and A by director Brian Trenchard Smith ath the "Greats of Roth" at The New Beverly:Q & A:A DEATH WISH AT 115 MILES PER HOUR!
